      It's not. For Alpha 1, we're building one of the continents of Syndesia - the smallest one. Later on, we're going to release the others πŸ™‚

    • Future Spotlights Content - Vote Your Favorite Topics!

      Hi everyone!

      We've been a little silent these last couple weeks, I know. First we had the office vacations, then the big effort of planning all the work for Alpha 1 - with a week of Gamescom in between... From full relax to full steam!

      Now the time has come to prepare the list of upcoming Feature Spotlights as well. This time, however, we'd like to let you vote on what should be prioritized among a set of topics that fit with our production schedule!

      You can express up to 3 preferences in this survey πŸ™‚


      A few more details on the different options:

      • Alpha 1 world map: an overview of the 40 km2 map of Alpha 1, including towns and points of interest.
      • Town conquests: sieges and open world battles.
      • Housing and public structures: how to build a house, what public structures exist and what they do.
      • Balancing for theorycrafting: lots of numbers and formulas on attributes and other combat mechanics.
      • Overview on crafting: the general mechanics of crafting in Fractured, explained.
      • Survival crafting in detail: primitive tools, weapons and armors. Where it all begins.
      • Tailoring in detail: processing hides, leathers and fibers, and the resulting armors.
      • Blacksmithing in detail: processing minerals, and the resulting weapons and armors.
      • Pottery crafting in detail: so cool! Right? Right?

      Indeed, "legendary" pieces of equipment don't work well in a game where items lose durability and eventually break, plus drop on death. Even if you're playing on Arboreus where being looted is impossible/extremely unlikely, you'd eventually lose your "legendary" item. Also, having such items would break our design pillar of different equipment being better/worse in different scenarios - not better/worse overall.

      On the opposite, when it comes to cosmetics, trophies, etc, everything is possible, and we'll definitely have very rare / unique items. Asteroids, as someone mentioned, will be a very likely source of them. GM-hosted events will be as well.

      As a Beastman, if you have a criminal flag (murderer, thief) or are cut off a Good alignment for whatever reason, you're cut off Arboreus. You don't want to get to that point unless your aim is to become an Abomination.

      Sorry for being so silent these last couple weeks - I've been doing a lot of dev jobs to speed things up towards Alpha 1 and haven't paid enough attention to you all!

      Gear definitely matters, but not in the "vertical" way (aside from survival/primitive gear - such as stone weapons and hide armors that are objectively weaker). It matters the "horizontal" way - it's situational, there's better and worse gear according to how you've designed your character and what are the enemies you're going to face.

      I agree it's not so obvious to "believe" things will actually play out this way, so I'm surely going to write a spotlight on the types of armor and weapons we'll have in Alpha 1 and their pros / cons.

      We've actually just defined the "final" balancing numbers little ago, implementing all of that in this Sprint. Could be a good topic for the spotlight as well, although it'd be a very "nerdy" one. In the meantime, check out this spotlight if you haven't already! @Jarek @TheRippyOne @suruq

      @Ladyrowan @Jetah @Genobee we've roughly outlined in this update what's going to be the focus for Alpha 1. Making a really detailed roadmap for Alpha 1 - Test 1 would take a while and we believe it's better to focus on feature spotlights and/or content already developed at this point πŸ™‚

      @Cinnao religions are going to be implemented quite further down the line, so the spotlight will do as well, I'm afraid.

      Hi @Fuam! Fractured is being developed for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

      ChromeOS is not planned to be officially supported, so it all boils down to how well ChromeOS can run Linux apps in general. It might be able to run Fractured, but it's impossible to tell at this point.

      @Gothix that's definitely a bug (regarding deleted accounts, not banned ones), I'll check whether it's been fixed in one of the most recent versions of our forum platform, or report it if not. That being said, blacklisting them is of little use, since most now get caught by the spam filters, and if any goes through it gets banned and IP-blacklisted right away.

    • Kickstarter Is Over! What's Next?

      Hi everyone!

      Our Kickstarter campaign is over, and it’s been a success. It started with a massive wave of pledges on day 1 and ended with an equally awesome push in the last 2 days. Eventually, we’ve hit the goal, and even got over 10% overfunded.

      Even better than the pledges collected, there’s the fact you were always there to sustain us with your enthusiasm, passion and feedback. I know it’s a very predictable thing to say, but we would have gone nowhere without you.

    • GamesCom Here I Come! And You?

      Hi everyone,

      GamesCom 2018 is approaching, and I'll be there as trade visitor from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 (August)!

      I guess a few of you will be there too. I'd be glad to meet up for a chat while I'm not busy talking with some publisher and so on. If the presence of Fractured fans is substantial, we could organize a Fractured dinner too perhaps.

      So, just leave a post here if you'll be at GamesCom, and let's see how that goes!

      A side note. I know, you might have wanted to try out Fractured at GamesCom, but it's a tad too early for that. We were also too focused on the Kickstarter campaign to set everything up to become exhibitors. We won't miss that next year!

      Hi @LilithDragonFlower, sorry for the slow reply, hectic days eheh. No, we're not going to ban people for trading items or resources without getting an equal or similar value in return, it's madness. It's something players could do for many legitimate reasons. I wasn't aware other companies did that - if they do, it's not related to the country they're from, it's just a policy they have.

      Of course this doesn't mean we're not going to ban gold sellers and players who engage in RMT for game items. We will keep the attention on those practices very high.
