@logain said in Mega Update - Cheaper Packs, Pre-Alpha Keys & More:
Could you explain how you define 'competitive from day 1' in relation to 'powerful boost' to various key elements of combat (damage, evasion, mana and health regeneration, accuracy and luck)? It seems mutually exclusive to me, since in a MOBA you can either have a significant/powerful boost, or be competitive right from the beginning, but not both. What am I missing here @Prometheus?
I assume you're referring to the bonuses you get if you reach a natural score of 20 in an attribute?
A preamble here: the word "powerful" should be put in the context of a game where differences are small, like Fractured. A +20% to a certain statistic (say, to melee damage from reaching 20 STR) is already enough to be called a "powerful bonus".
I assume the scenario that worries you is someone picking 18 points in a stat and aiming for the 20 with talents - a dangerous move anyway, since you'll want to re-assign your talents frequently and you'll often end up having to give up that +2 in favor of other bonuses. In this scenario, you think the KP bonus from VIP helps you getting talent points faster -> get the 20 faster. This is really not the case, as you'll typically want to get 50 talents points as quickly as possible and VIP has little to no influence there - the reason is explained in the answer below.
@phaethonas said in Mega Update - Cheaper Packs, Pre-Alpha Keys & More:
@Prometheus First of all what "unlimited sources only" means, exactly? And secondly, you still haven't answered if the VIP ticket will be an actual in-game item, that will be possible to be exchanged (see EVE's PLEX) or not.
Some sources of KP are limited, because you can perform the action only once (e.g. discovering a new region, a new creature, etc). VIP doesn't boost them. Others, like studying enchanted items, are unlimited - every time you find an enchanted item, you can study it and gain KP.
As long as you still have limited sources available, you'll be looking for those, since unlimited sources are rare and/or give much fewer points. Unlimited sources matter only once you've run out of limited. At that point, however, your character is likely already dozens of hours old, has unlocked all the 50 talent points and has a good variety of builds available - it can be considered "done" from a "competitive" standpoint.
As for trading, the plan is for VIP to be something you activate for your account, not an item that can be traded.
@zwiterion said in NEW POLL : VIP Membership what do you think now ?:
Depending on how it's done and how much of a boost it give it could either be a big advantage early game or just a slight time booster.
The progression advantage during early game will be minimal. The reason is that during early game you get KP quickly thanks to one-time gains such as new regions explored and new bestiary entries, while VIP only boosts repeatable gains (e.g. item identification, relics) which become more important later on That's why we said it's mostly a boon for completionists

@finland uuuuuu Hackerman!
is it showing only up to 190 for everyone? I can select 195 (the first hidden one) but it still shows nothing
edit: it's js error it seems.
It's a caching error, just hit ctrl+f5
@esher said in Mega Update - Cheaper Packs, Pre-Alpha Keys & More:
Just a question, when you say "you get one out of 8 possible skins" ? Does it mean, when you open a chest, you have the choice between 8 different skins ? (maybe my translation is wrong ^^
You get a random one among the 8 possible. If you open another chest of the same type you won't get the same skin again

Hi everyone!
It's been barely over a week since we've submitted the pledge packs of our upcoming Kickstarter campaign to the evaluation of the Fractured community. Response has been plentiful and on point - so here we are today with some significant changes to the price and structure of the packs!
Other than that, we would like to provide you with some clarifications on our VIP membership, which has elicited a negative reaction from a few members of the community.
Last but not least, The Foundation now features 10 new reward tiers, and you'll be glad to know that winning a pre-alpha key isn't such a burdensome task - not even if you're new to the community!
On a (not so) side note, we've been suggested by Kickstarter that starting a campaign the week before E3 is not a great idea - fair point. The launch has therefore been postponed to the end of June - exact date to be announced!
As always, let us hear your feedback loud and clear!
Enjoy Fractured!
I forgot to update this - 1,000 points added to @Logan! Lots of BR players expected in the coming days
Time to close this thread, big thanks to everyone who contributed!
Just so you all know - we're following the whole discussion closely. We're all busy with the recordings for Kickstarter, but I'll soon make a dedicated thread to explain why the progression boost from VIP is marginal and why it absolutely doesn't affect the "competitive power" of a guild with players using it VS one who doesn't.
@jetah said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
as for the squat. i pledge for that tier, i get on a 3rd party site and attempt to sell that pledge for 2k. I get the funds, then we attempt to trade the pledge tier or i give the buyer the email/account for the KS account.
Alright, so someone blocks the pack, sells his KS account to a third person, then it's up to this third person to pay for the pack. If this third person doesn't pay, he/she loses the pack, which will be put on sale again on our website. I'm still failing to see the issue for us - it's Kickstarter that is getting its TOS broken, I guess.
@zinfandel said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
I'm confused by some of the quantities. What does this mean?
6 months of VIP membership (1 year total β retail β¬120)
Do I get 2 6-month packs? Do I get 6 months each for two accounts?
You get 1 year of VIP membership for your account (6 months come from this pledge pack, 6 months from the ones before)
@Mrchipps @Esoba @Vollmond as I've said before, we'll consider making some adjustments due to the EUR->USD exchange rate! Let's see how the discussion evolves.
@muker said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
@Prometheus Some of us have noticed that you want to make 2 slots for your character for free, and the extra is already for investing in kickstarter. I think some forum members may not like it, as I believe that any player can try the game for 3 races instead of deleting the character, because the first 5-10 hours it will only delve into its foundations. Maybe it is not so much time spent, but it is worth considering.. We would be interested if you could still make a concession to the players and make free 3 slots for characters or leave 2 slots, but with the possible opening of the third by performing in-game tasks ( related to achievements for example)
Thanks for the feedback - it's something we're discussing ourselves. We'll let you know!
@guanchen-bob said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
Is there an option for paying with PayPal?
Apparently not: https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005066473-Can-I-pledge-with-PayPal-
@target @Jetah I'm going to edit the initial post explaining more about why VIP is not even remotely pay to win!
@jetah said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
oh my lord those "help design for a thing for bajillion dollars" packs DX
DS wont get them though. 1-3 people will squat it, then ask for 12k to sell it.
I'm failing to understand what you're saying here. If someone buys the 10k pack during the campaign and then doesn't pay for it once the KS is over, the pack will just be taken away from the petty scammer, and put on sale again on our website. There's nothing he can sell. At most he can buy it, and once its been validated (he paid) and linked to his Fractured account, try selling the account for a higher price than 10k. That's something we need to fight as well of course.
@ladyrowan said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
What happens if I buy the package and then don't play, what happens to my town does it become a ghost town?
What happens if someone buys a package that includes governing a town and then doesn't play or doesn't create a character? Is there going to be a stone block somewhere that would be their package? Life happens sometimes and plans made now may change
Since I"m the Governor do I need to pay upkeep on the town like you would for a house?
Am I supposed to be enticing people to come live in my town? What if I have friends that are also Governors can we pool out towns into a bigger town?
If someone buys a larger package like a Duke do they still need to Govern the town or are they past that level?
@zwiterion said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
Would it be possible to buy in-game some of the reward in the pack later on ? Exemple the life-time VIP or the custom guild crest ?
Some like character slots, sure. Others like the custom crest, not decided yet @Benseine. Others surely not - the Lifetime VIP is a crowdfunding-only reward. You can upgrade to a higher pack from our website once the KS campaign is over though, since crowdfunding will continue there.
@kostan said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
So devil's advocate here, what makes you think your game is worth the same amount for similar reward to something like Crowfall whose team has a wealth of experience in this industry?
We might be relatively young, but we don't think it takes away value from the product. Perhaps from the perceived value for people who find out Fractured when the campaign begins, without having been here before, had the chance to talk with us and see our progress. In that case we hope the existing community will be of help to communicate that!
@Kostan @Deity @Kralith The prices proposed were originally in USD - but sadly we can't choose USD as currency, KS forces us to pick Euros. We might tweak some prices to make up for the bad exchange rate, particularly for mid/high packs.
@finland said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
@Prometheus The VIP sub is going to be account wise or character wise?
Account-wise.
@esher said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
How many time the kickstarter will last ? (if I can found a little job during spring or next school year, maybe I can give a bit more ^^ )
30 days
@Finland @muker a side note for you two guys. While these forums might have a chat-like look, they're still a forum, not a chat. Please refrain from dropping multiple posts in a row, or in general treating forum threads (I'm not talking only of this one) like your own personal chat. Makes the discussion harder to follow for everyone. Thanks
Hi everybody!
As the start of our Kickstarter campaign approaches, itβs time for us to submit one of its key components to your evaluation. Today is the turn of Pledge Packs!
Weβd like to hear your answers to questions such as:
As always, your feedback is invaluable to us, and it will be crucial in deciding the success of our Kickstarter campaign. So please check them out and let us hear your voice!

A couple clarifications:
Mounted combat is not planned for Fractured. Mounts will be used for speed out of combat - and yes, @Bomber, there will be a good variety. Not only horses @Vulcan You can already see a few in The Foundation!
Pets are a completely different story, they can fight and you can totally make a "beastmaster" build based on pets like @Nelchael mentioned!
We haven't planned for Dynamight Studios to hold crypto wallets. However, accepting payments through a 3rd-party gateway that can do settlement in Euros, like the one @Jetah mentioned, is a possibility. I can't tell you that's 100% going to happen though, let's say it's likely
