Our aim is to have one single large server, hosted in NA. If latency is an issue for EU users, we can start an EU server too any time. As for Asia / Oceania, that's not an option SpatialOS gives for now, but you never know...

@Prometheus Pretty impressed by how good the game looks even in pre alpha state. Is there a twitch link somewhere floating around for fractured?
Will be delivered when we announce the exact time of the first Q&A
@logain said in First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!:
Can you 'define' friendly fire? Normally, the term would indicate that if a third person gets in the line of fire between you and the target, the ray/projectile/hit no longer hits the target, but that third person. How could you do that in a game with free targeting (you can freeze a river, so you need to be able to aim at said river...), while keeping your 'only consensual PvP - mantra'? If I can aim anywhere and deal damage to anything in that line (friendly fire), I could easily kill a Beastman as Beastman?
It means exactly that, but as I've said, you can avoid it by grouping with your friends. If you have a Good alignment, you also can't hurt other players with Good / Neutral alignment - this includes friendly fire. Since Beastmen are Good, they can't hurt each other. It was mentioned in this spotlight
@Zefireq @Eletze animations and the UI are really temporary, as I've mentioned elsewhere. They will be both remade from scratch  There will be a minimap, too. Same goes for several particle effects. Don't focus too much on the graphics department, it's a pre-alpha!

RE: Streaming Pre Alpha?
@jetah said in Streaming Pre Alpha?:
Having watched Crowfall backers provide feedback, suggestions, rants, etc, it seems to me having limited game time is better for a developing game than 24/7 access.
Indeed, that is why we will run several time-limited testing phases (A1, A2... B1, B2...) until Full Release

Yes, access to Full Release / Beta / Alpha will of course be included in Kickstarter rewards! For Pre-Alpha access, have a look here

@rainstorm26 @Finland Don't get too excited. Most of the time it's just bug fixes and maybe a few small changes. Don't expect a complete forum overhaul.
Indeed - just bug fixes, security updates and improvements to the chat system
-
RE: Fractured Forums Mobile
@rainstorm26 you're welcome but.. We actually have nothing to do with it
It used to work until Google broke it a couple versions of Chrome Mobile ago and they fixed it in the latest one just released (which I guess you got). That being said, we'll run a forum platform update next week

RE: How many players will get invite to the pre-alpha tests?
@foxs said in How many players will get invite to the pre-alpha tests?:
Just wonder how many it gonna be, or how much levels should we get in the fundation system
As Finland said, we can't give you an exact estimate of how many players we will get in the pre-alpha (so "more than 100 and less than 1000 is a good answer eheh).
As for the level you need, the answer is more complex than that. Players with top ranking will get in for sure, but other factors such as high community engagement will be considered as well even if you're not in the top XXX of The Foundation

RE: First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!
@ravenhost said in First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!:
Really would like to see less chaotic movement and animation. Now it looks like the characters do not interact with the outside world, do not have any weight or inertia, and because of this movement is not realistic. The same applies to the animation of the battle.
Our animations are very rough indeed - they're all going to be remade from scratch in the future!
@finland said in First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!:
The game looks fluid enough but wee need to see how the engine will work with loads of people around.
We have a lot of work to do in this regard too - it will be mostly carried out during Alpha testing phases
- You can zoom but not change the camera angle. The world is built so you don't need it.
- You can group and that removes friendly fire too. We might reconsider this decision though.
- There is full collision between any type of creature (players included, in the same party and not). SpatialOS makes it possible! However, we might tweak the rules here too. Alpha testing will tell whether it's really feasible on a large scale or not.
- Yes, they are. That's "just" gathering though, only a part of what "fully interactable environments" means. A lot is related to how you can use the environment in combat - setting it on fire, freezing it, and so on.
- Click to move - sometimes keeping the mouse button down, others pathfinding. If you ever played ARPGs like POE or Diablo - it's that!
- Swimming is not in the picture so far I'm afraid.
- In house, although it partly relies on external code libraries.
@ioracle said in First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!:
Really love the video, just a question will it be possible to loot items or ressources from goblin camps or ruins ? @Prometheus
In the video it was not possible but in the game it will be!

How is the PvP gameplay?? I haven't found any related information..
We'll have some in the Kickstarter video hopefully!

First Fractured Gameplay Video Released!
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it's all true. After a (way too) long wait, the first Fractured gameplay video has been finally released!
The footage includes 15 minutes of cuts from half an hour of pre-alpha gameplay, featuring the exploration of a 1 sq. km, procedurally-generated map, showcasing our beloved ARPG combat and the overall art direction of the game.
Adding to the above, weβve thrown in some commentary with insights on core features such as character and world building. Moreover, weβre delving into βcool technical stuffβ like procedural map generation and the inner workings of the SpatialOS engine.

Check out the dev blogAs always, let us hear your feedback loud and clear!
Enjoy Fractured!

How important will RNG be in crafting? Will knowledge and materials guarantee success? Or will you also need to be lucky?
Will there be any outcome difference between an average skill craftsmen and a high skill craftsmen creating the exact same item? (small stats increments maybe)- There will be very little RNG in general. Consider also that Fractured's equipment is not about power gaps, but situational.
- There will be a difference, although moderate!

RE: Cosmetic cash shop, RMT and p2w.
@phaethonas said in Cosmetic cash shop, RMT and p2w.:
Will it be possible to trade in-game Fractured's cosmetic items or not?
As of today, the plan is that it won't be possible. When you buy a skin for a race or for some type of armor or for a kind of pet, it just adds the option in your account to use the skin (it will reskin that type of item if you're wearing it, or that type of pet if you're controlling it). Same goes for cosmetic pets. None are actual in-game items, and there is no auction house where you can sell the skins etc that you own to other players.

RE: Upgradable Pets
@ioracle said in Upgradable Pets:
It's already kind of there cause the fendyr becomes a fire fendyr
Yes, but it's still a cosmetic pet
@jetah said in Upgradable Pets:
@prometheus I'd suggest adding some as rewards from bosses. Destiny 2 had issues with all cosmetic rewards being obtainable from loot boxes. There was no reason to kill raid bosses each week after your gear was capped because there was nothing there.
Some premium items will come from in-game activities too, sure.

RE: Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime
@finland said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
Neither considered griefing? Do you mean that players will be allowed to act like that without penalities? That's going to be hard work for guilds
One could infiltrate another guild for the purpose of griefing its members or for competitive advantage. Still not against the rules of the game...
@phaethonas said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
are we talking about real money/Dynamight Gold here or in-game currency?
In-game currency.
@phaethonas said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
First of all I find the 30 minutes restriction too much. More importantly though, here are some questions; OK after 30 minutes I am kicked out, how long till I am able to return? Do I have a debuff not allowing me to return, or I may start preparations returning immediately. When first going to Arboreus, where do I land? When I am kicked out and then return (whether this is after 1 hour or 24 hours) where do I return to? Will I return to the area I was kicked out from?
You're always able to return. There are some default landing points, others you can learn to open, but you can't just go anywhere you like - just a brief explanation here. As for the others things you've said, remember that we can always adjust the type, duration and intensity of maluses / limitations to have things working as planned - that hostile PvP on Arboreus is an exceptional occurrence, not the norm. This will all be defined during Alpha testing!
@garlic said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
Loved this read! So much info. Though I'm interested in knowing if an Angel would be able to live on Tartaros?
Hell no!
@chrightt said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
Now, I can only hope there isn't some main quest or quest that gives very good rewards on specific planets.
There isn't. Quests are not a thing in general for Fractured - aside from a few exceptions like Divine Quests, but you could call that "secondary"
@chrightt said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
TL;DR While I think Fractured introduces a lot of systems in a nice story/lore format, I also think many rules in Fractured actually restricts a lot of freedom and restricts players according to their race.
That's the trade-off of our system, yes. However, nothing prevents you from having different characters of different races, or playing in a Syndesia-based mixed-guild!
@target said in Feature Spotlight #6 - PvP, Alignment & Crime:
What I'm hoping Tartaros will be rich for are big boss-like creatures that drop rare materials.
As the "Hunters & Scavengers" tab in our homepage (which you've mentioned later) suggests, resource gathering goes through PvE on Tartaros much more than in the other planets. And PvE can get really hard there, given the horrors that inhabit the planet. So your guess is 100% correct.
@Phaethonas @Finland mind stopping arguing with each other in half the discussions on the forums?

RE: Becomming an Angel or Abommination
@benseine said in Becomming an Angel or Abommination:
Got some questions about changing your alignment so a demon becomes an angel or a beastman becomes an abomination:
-does becomming an Angel or Beastman changes your looks/appearence?
-Can an Angel live permanently on Aboreus and an Abomination on Tartaros?
-Does being an Angel or Abomination changes your debuffs on other planets?
-Does it changes your attributes, abilities or special powers from their home planet?
-Can a Demon change their allignment to neutral and go farming karma on Tartaros to become a good aligned demon?
-Is becomming an Angel or Abomination tied to a devine quest?A few quick answers:
- Yes, it does!
- The latter yes, the former is still uncertain.
- Sure it does. An Abomination is equivalent to a Demon, and so is treated. Things for Angels are more complex.
- Yes! They're really different races!
- They have to redeem themselves out of Tartaros - Babilis won't let them in their home planet
- The final steps that complete the transformation include Divine Quests, yes

RE: Upgradable Pets
@daz said in Upgradable Pets:
I was thinking about pets ingame, some games u Have cosmetic pets, some combat pets others pets where u can access your vault etc. How about a pet which could do all that and maybe more but it takes time and work.
Pets start as cosmetic, but u can upgrade it to also be a combat pet, then upgrade it further to allow access to your vault etc the list goes on. Smaller upgrades could be skins or Type of pets, colours of pets or outfits, improved combat, improved spawn time etc.Fractured features both cosmetic pets and ones that actually fight - but it's two separate things. The former are store perks (or anyway rewards, such as those in The Foundation), they just follow you and can't be harmed. The latter are obtained and trained in game - yes, you can train them too!

RE: How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?
@fibs said in How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?:
complete unlimited "look like anything" systems are terrible because a Death Knight in 1000 pounds of metal can put on a cloth armor skin or just go around naked. This destroys any sort of immersion and grossly unbalances any form of PVP.
@evolgrinz said in How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?:
I like the idea, but there should be some limitations. Like heavy armor can only be changed to look like other heavy armor. And a two-handed sword can only look like other two-handed swords etc.
These two posts pretty much summarize our thoughts on the matter  Each kind of armor (e.g. Plate) has its own skins you can purchase. One could make it look dark and creepy, the other heavily ornamental. This includes changes to the model, not only texturing - but in the end, it will always be obvious it's a Plate armor. It will never look like a Robe
@chrightt said in How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?:
Personally, I think if they implemented this system it would suck real bad so that almost no one would use it. Why? Simply because in Fractured, once you die your gear can get taken away (like Runescape, Albion). what the heck is the point of transmogging? Basically turns into a crappily designed system on the dev's part. There are reasons why games where gear change hands quickly don't really implement this system. People just have to understand some game design.
That is why when you buy a Skin from the Store (or you obtain it otherwise in game), it's tied to your account, not to a specific piece, and you can activate it and de-activate it at will - so literally the same piece of armor could look one way on a person and different on another. It's like when you purchase a skin for a Hero's piece of equipment in a MOBA like Dota 2
@mramazing said in How do you feel about transmog system for fractured?:
FYI, transmogrification should not be a focus of any game at launch. Or prior to launch. This would include wardrobe masking, etc. It's a nice-to-have and not a needful. They already stated it's a buy once to play, I haven't seen anything about pay for looks. That would be the only time it would make sense to think about developing a system where your look is modified before release.
Of course our premium skinning system - and the whole Store actually - will come later in the development cycle!
