@giochimmo said in Localizzazione in italiano:

    • RE: What will be

Hi @denispeda - since I know Albion myself very well, I can give you an answer as dev. The most important things I can outline:

      • Fractured features ARPG combat, which is quite different from Albion's Dota-like style.
      • Progression is horizontal and sees no grind thanks to the Knowledge System, while Albion progression is very vertical (with resources, items and everything divided in tiers) and progression requires repeating the same action over an over for a long, long time.
      • The way PvP is managed is very different - on Albion, by level (low level: green, high level: red). On Fractured, by race and planet. In fact, the whole concept of races and worlds doesn't exist in Albion.
      • Interactions with the environment being very important in combat are also missing from Albion.
      • We have one massive open world, it's not divided in regions.

...and there's a lot more I could mention. Even the graphic style is different. So like... Yeah, it's very different 😄

    • RE: World Size / Changing World?

@sosen said in World Size / Changing World?:

How big is the world going to be? How much hidden content, which can range from unique encounters to lore tidbits, will the game have?

Does the world grow and change as time goes on? If their are servers will they all be identical or different?

      Hi SoSen, so...

      1. The world is going to be very large - three whole planets, plus the asteroids! There's plenty to explore - as it must be, otherwise the Knowledge System just wouldn't work
      2. The world will grow if we expand it with a patch, it doesn't grow procedurally by itself. What will change are asteroid - they come and they go, so you always have new areas to explore in the "end game". As for servers, our plan is to have only one.

    • RE: Group Gathering

      @sosen said in Group Gathering:

Will their be any bonus to gathering in a group other then the standard reasons (PvP/time)?
Some bonuses could be as simple as 5% buff to speed, node max, or chance at rarer resources.

There is no direct advantage such as "if two members of the same party hit the same resource node they get a bonus". However, given the limited amount of abilities your character can use at the same time and the way moving resources works in Fractured, being in a group helps a lot if you're on a "resource gathering" trip 😉

    • RE: Alliance chats, questions on possibility.

Hi @Jairone - yes, it's possible for guilds to sign neutrality or alliance treaties, and the latter will give players access to shared communication as well. However, being in two different guilds (one allied with the other) is still very different than being in the same guild - particularly when it comes to town management, sharing resources, and so on.

    • RE: What about progress?

@chrightt said in What about progress?:

I hope gear doesn't play a huge role in character strength even though it should play a part in having a strong(er) character

Gear plays an important role, but in a different way:

      1. Different gear is suggested according to the region you want to explore - that's mostly related to the weather system and temperature. It's not literally a must to use different equipment, but highly suggested.
      2. Different gear is also suggested according to your role in battle and the foes you expect to face.

In a nutshell, gear is situational - higher availability makes you stronger. As with the Knowledge System, progression is horizontal rather than vertical.

@chrightt said in What about progress?:

I am not quitting because of gear issue, I am quitting only if Fractured operates like runescape/albion where the stuff you carry can be looted by other players if they so happen to kill you.
@Vengu Arboreus? I don't think that is the issue. I actually really like PVP, I just dislike the idea where newbies/less experienced players/small group/solo players get punished by say a group of 10 people camping roads to steal your stuff.

You can be looted indeed - well, Beastmen actually can't loot you unless you're a demon or a human with evil alignment. But... if you play as a human, you'll enjoy a wide protection net from the laws in place on Syndesia. You won't get "camped" if you're a new player, and even in high level scenarios as a solo player, you can build a character with strong ability to flee if needed - but again, being "ganked" won't happen frequently. If you play as a demon, well... I guess you won't play as a demon 😉

    • RE: Something reallyy off-topic...

@Frost it definitely happened because he reached level 150 while we hadn't implemented the new groups yet - so when we released this last Foundation update, he was put in the last only, skipping the previous ones. That's an unexpected behavior tho, he should have been added to all the groups in order.

It's not a critical bug since in the end I guess one always wants to display his highest title... but we'll have a look at it anyway, thanks for reporting.

...also, I just noticed he's now in all groups. Weird. We'll see!

    • RE: Cursed items-

@Mazikar that's something we've been considering since we also like it in single-player RPGs. Plus, Fractured features item identification mechanics, which indeed are required to have cursed items. In an MMO, however, the most "hardcore" version of the concept has several drawbacks, so we haven't decided whether to implement it - and if so, in what form. If we do, it will definitely end up in a Feature Spotlight

Definitely a good idea to have a better forum but isn't it quite hard to keep making actually meaningful contributiouns when the journals come this slow?

You're right  As I've mentioned in the blog post, we're going to seriously speed up with updates from now on!

@logain said in The Foundation - Weekly Drawings:

wouldn't it be better to reach out to a majority of people roughly at the time when you're launching your Kickstarter?

We're going to reach a lot more people during and right before the Kickstarter - including paid advertising. The aim of these drawings is largely to keep the community as alive and engaged as possible - we don't expect Ambassador Drawings to have a massive effect

    • RE: Transporting resources between planets

@Benseine inventory is quite limited on Fractured, both in terms of space and total weight you can carry. If you want to move a lot of resources, you need animals, carts and vehicles - they can all go through stargates indeed, so that's the way to go.

As for the duration of stargates, they last for quite a long time, but if you don't make it back before it closes and your time on the other planet runs out... well... you're getting back without the resources

How do we know if one of our contributions/posts is considered worthy?

For Ambassador Drawings, we'll let you know. For Engagement Drawings, well, there's no need to tell you since it's very simple to get in - it's enough to be active on the forums without writing only "welcome!" or "daily post" 😉

    • Weekly Drawings - Be Active & Win Foundation Points!

      Foundation Header

      -----> WHAT'S A WEEKLY DRAWING? <-----

A Weekly Drawing is a random draft held here on the Fractured forums on a weekly basis.

If you've been selected to be part of a Weekly Drawing, you are to compete with all other participants for a large Foundation Points reward.

Winners are always chosen through a random algorithm among all participants in the Drawing. The number of contributions don't matter - each account is entered only once in each Drawing.

The number of winners of each Drawing depends on the amount of participants - could be only one, could be several!

      -----> ENGAGEMENT DRAWINGS <-----

Dropping a message in the Welcome section or the "daily post" thread is fine and dandy - but not really... Deep and interesting!

With Engagement Drawings, we want to reward the meaningful contributions you leave in these forums - many have been posted already, and a lot more will surely come!

Some examples of the type of posts we considered for the Engagement Drawing:

      • Asking a question on the game never asked before (or asked when some information hadn't been released yet).
      • Providing feedback (including constructive criticism) on the design / art / gameplay of Fractured.
      • Dropping your own ideas about possible Fractured features, lore...
      • Discussing possible character templates, skills...
      • Setting up a guild and recruiting other players.
      • Discussing other topics in the gaming world (but not only) that could be related to the development of Fractured.

In sum, any nice, interesting discussion does it!

      Reward: 1,000 Foundation Points

Method: if one of your posts/threads has been considered worthy, you'll be entered in the Engagement Drawing of the week during which you made the post/thread.

      -----> COMMUNITY CONTESTS <-----

Community contests are not weekly nor random - but it's good to mention them here since the reward is always Foundation Points.

A community contest is a competition held on the Fractured forums, open to all registered users. The type of contest varies each time - it could be fan art, writing, role-playing, or even a game design contest. The subjects explored are several too - they may touch the lore of Fractured, its game mechanics, or be more loosely related to the game.

      Reward: Foundation Points (varies)

Method: Dynamight Studios chooses one or more winners among all community members who have taken part in the competition.

Thank you all for your support!
      Enjoy Fractured!

@darian said in To hype or not to hype?:

I think the hype is damaging the gaming community. It generates expectations far beyond reality, leaving the gamer disappointed when he lays hands on the final product. Honest representation on the other hand, will most likely draw in those genuinely interested in what the game actually offers, crating a strong community to build upon. Just my two cents.

We're definitely going for the "honest representation" indeed - both on what the game will feature, and what's been developed so far

    • RE: Can you think of truly immersive and meaningful quests in the Fractured world?

@darian said in Can you think of truly immersive and meaningful quests in the Fractured world?:

I like a good story where my choices matter. The problem with questing in mmos is that everyone has done the quest and if you put choice into it, my choice was different then yours yet we both live in exactly the same world. Even though we never met before, we have both killed the same bosses. All of this is immersion braking. Could we think of a solution?

As of today, we're not planning to use a conventional questing system in Fractured. The game already has a large scope, and we really don't see questing in general as a key feature for a sandbox MMO - where it's players who make the story. Plus, even with the development speed that the Unity + SpatialOS combo grants us, a good questing system would just take away too much time from other things we deem more important - we want to get Alpha 1 live late this year, not claim so then deliver it in 2020 😉 That being said...

      • The way you learn abilities through the Knowledge System has a questing-like element to it.
      • A lot of the lore of the game will be delivered through the Knowledge System too - specifically when it comes to learning Arcane and Divine abilities, which are not covered in the Spotlight. Collecting lore is a thing!

As for relics, you've mentioned a mechanic we have already planned - they're explained in brief in the article I've linked above! I quote:

Relics are rare pieces of the lost knowledge of Elysium that have survived the Fracture and can be recovered from the most remote locations and dangerous circumstances. When consumed, they can trigger the discovery of a new spell or raise the strength of one you know above its maximum theoretical level – a power we’re sure the most competitive of you will crave to master. And oh, they give Knowledge Points too, of course.

The trick with this type of feature is to make it so the very competitive player craves it, but the "average" player can ignore it and still be effective (so it's definitely not an extra-mega-legendary-super-saiyan-doomsday boost, @KairosVal). Plus, where and how you find it should be unpredictable, so you can't purposefully "grind" it. We believe this will do, but anyway, in the grand scheme of the Knowledge System relics are a relatively secondary feature

@darian said in How many active skills will a player be able to use in a fight?:

From what I understand, we will be able to "deck out" our talents while resting. Does this also apply to spell/skills or will the player be able to use any off the 400+ spells (provided he has learned them and has the required resources) at any given time? Also, will there be any skill interactions that would encourage players to coordinate their attacks?

Yes, it applies to abilities too. You can only choose a few for use from all the ones you know - and if you've picked more than the hotbar can hold (possible with high INT), you can't use the additional ones in combat - but you can switch them in the hotbar when out of combat without having to rest. The Resting phase will be detailed in the next spotlight anyway 😉 And sure - there are plenty of synergies, plus environmental effects have a million interactions with each other 🙂
