      @chrightt you're right, saying "all abilities are skill shots" was quite misleading from my side. Of course there are several abilities that have an immediate effect on yourself or your target, (some) summons are indeed a good example. Nonetheless, compared to a MOBA like LoL or Dota, way more abilities in Fractured require aiming and can therefore be dodged / countered :slight_smile:

      @Mazikar you got it right. Yes, you can level up each ability you've learnt, 2-4 times. Leveling up an ability doesn't make it enormously more powerful - that would break the design pillar of new players being competitive from day 1. Still, it's a nice little improvement, and you'll have to choose what to prioritize along your way, without forgetting that eventually you'll be able to learn and max out all the abilities existing in the game. That being said, learning new abilities and improving them is not the only type of progression in the game, but I'm stopping here for now πŸ˜‰

      I'm aware the Knowledge System as a whole might be still quite obscure to you guys. It will be covered in detail in one of the future Feature Spotlights which I'm sure will satisfy you!

      @Aries you're hinting to a skill system like that of Ultima Online - probably due to our previous work on Linkrealms. There's no such a thing in Fractured :slight_smile:

    • RE: Dark theme / Night mode for the forum?

      Hi guys! :slight_smile: Our forum platform has a skin system, but it's not compatible with our custom theme, that's why we had to disable the system in full. I understand the issue with the current light colors though so we'll create a custom dark skin and make it available it as soon as possible!

    • Welcome the first Fractured forum moderator

      Hi everyone,

      we're glad to announce you that starting today these boards will have their first official moderator. Give a warm welcome to @Specter!

      What is a moderator?

      A moderator is a volunteer who helps the Dynamight Studios team in managing the community boards of Fractured. The major tasks of a moderator are:

      • To remove content that violates our Terms of Service, and, if needed, punish the violators.
      • To keep conversations friendly and on topic.
      • To point all members of the community asking questions to the appropriate replies if already given, or get in touch with us to answer them.

      We're going to keep a laidback approach to moderation, so as long as you stay nice ladies and gentlemen you'll likely never hear a reproach. Also, don't forget a moderator is first and foremost your friend, not a forum policeman :slight_smile:

      A little side note

      In these first two weeks of August our presence as developers here on the forums will be quite limited, and most likely no Feature Spotlights will be posted till around the 15. Our apologies, but pretty much the whole studio is on vacation! πŸ˜ƒ

      @Lohen the time of the server is UTC. Daily quests reset at midnight as you might expect.

      You don't have to manually open your Foundation page to get the points. The system also does a check for all accounts a few hours after midnight.

      In PvE you can get loot rights or not. Looting a corpse for which you don't have rights is a criminal action. Quite classic.

      There will be harder and easier areas of course, but no Albion-like stuff. They have that because of different PvP rules (not allowed, penalties, FFA). You know Fractured's world building is entirely different :slight_smile:

      It's certainly an interesting approach to doing things. The rewards are very much what you normally see with Kickstarter. I know we'll have a Kickstarter but does this mean the devs already have a good amount of money to make it to release?

      Kickstarter will have a ton of other rewards, the two are more complementary than alternative! :slight_smile:

      @Mata there will be female versions but we're sticking to one sex for the concept art we show for now.

      @Frost yes, you will lose everything you carry when you die, even if you're a Beastman on Arboreus. You can still recover the items in your body if you get back to it in time and nobody has looted in between though. Whether other players (not in your party) can loot you (and the consequences) depends on the race/planet, of course, as for all criminal actions :slight_smile:

      @MarkasUrthadar you will get drops from mobs, but mostly limited to special resources and currency. No complete items, aside from very special situations. All complete items will be crafted by - and therefore also traded between - players!

      Thanks for the suggestion guys, but we're not fond of public chat boxes in community boards. They require a lot of control and usually end up full of spam anyway. We'll consider it if there's really a lot of demand for it in the future.

      On a side note, the forum already has a nice private chat system (including group chats) if you need to talk to your friends!

      This used to happen because daily points were not assigned every day but all together once every few days. Results were correct, just not "visually" updated daily, hence the "big jumps" you could notice. Everything is daily now :slight_smile:

      As for the creation of fake accounts, worry not. Some users (luckily very few) have tried, but all fake accounts get caught and flagged as such eventually (we allow them to exist, but they lose access to The Foundation).

    • The Foundation: 5 quests and 10 reward tiers added

      It’s been less than one month since the release of The Foundation, our unique community engagement program. Looking back at its impact, we believe it’s been a clear success, even more considering it was only a first version that lacked a few key components.

      Today, we’re glad to present to you the second iteration of The Foundation, with exciting additions both to quests and to the rewards ladder. Interested in a recap of what's new before you check out the platform itself? Read on!

      First of all, we have introduced the following 5 new quests:

      • Post a message on the forums (50 points for each day you make at least one post).
      • Read a Fractured news article (100 points for each article read).
      • Read a Fractured newsletter (100 points for each newsletter read).
      • Share Fractured news on Facebook (100 points for each article shared).
      • Share Fractured news on Twitter (100 points for each article shared).

      They’re the first repeatable tasks in the system, and we believe they represent the best thanks possible for all of you who like to keep an eye on the development of Fractured and enjoy discussing with the rest of the community on our forums.

      Ambassador ArmorFendyr PetDynamight Gold

      Now, let’s get to the part you’re looking forward too: rewards. As stated before, they haven’t been ignored either! 10 new tiers have been added, doubling the current total and featuring plenty of new exciting perks such as:

      • The Fendyr Pet, a lovely companion for all your future adventures.
      • The Emissary Tapestry, to be displayed in our homes.
      • The Ambassador Armor Skin, an improved, more imposing version of the Whisperer Armor Skin.
      • Two new titles, Emissary and Ambassador.
      • A ton of Dynamight Gold, the future premium currency of Fractured, that you’ll be able to spend in game to purchase plenty of stunning vanity items.

      If you look at the new rewards ladder, you’ll notice that some of the already existing tiers have been moved around a little, mostly because of the addition of Dynamight Gold. In particular, the maximum of Daily Points is now achieved at much higher levels. This change, couple with the addition of repeatable quests, has been implemented to emphasize the importance of active participation over account age (which remains relevant nonetheless).

      We hope you enjoyed all of the additions and the new chances to gain points! The next spotlight will be focused on the Fractured universe and its planets - be sure you don’t miss it!

      @prometheus I hope Arboreus doesn't become the main target of the gankers then because Arboreus will most certainly be known as the carebear planet. Hopefully I can build a house somewhere without having to worry about it being raided.

      As I've stated elsewhere, Arboreus will be the hardest place to "raid" for criminals. More info in the upcoming spotlight on planets!

      They can, but it's no easy task. Characters with evil alignment get heavy maluses on Arboreus. Plus, the whole environment reacts against their presence, up to the point some zones become practically unreachable by criminals.
