      The same thing that prevents players from all using the same hero/champion in MOBAs: countering mechanics and situational builds. Your stats are set during character creation, so each character has its own defined strengths and weaknesses. Plus, you can learn all the abilities in the game... but you can't use them all at the same time, you can only prepare a set when resting, so each player will likely change his build according to what he wants to do / plans to fight against during the upcoming gaming session :slight_smile:

      Each race has its own procedure. And yes, they're all "magical" (teleport-like or portal-like). No lions travelling through space :slight_smile:

      Hi isaiah! Most (if not all) sub-races will have both male and female counterparts, although some might be implemented later on in the development cycle :slight_smile:

      @Vahn interesting question. I'll give you a quick answer since these points too will be discussed in future Feature Spotlights.

      The fact you can craft the piece of armor / weapon you need yourself doesn't mean that you have the material you want to use to craft it. Basic ones, you'll likely do, or be able to obtain easily. Rare ones (particularly those coming from other planets), probably not. Plus, even if you have "that" rare material you want to use, that doesn't mean your character can actually use it! The ability to use each material is something that you need to learn, just like the ability to craft each piece, and if you're a Beastman and that piece of knowledge is tucked away in a remote and dangerous region on Tartaros... Good luck obtaining it! πŸ˜„

      As said above, mind this was just a quick answer. There'd be a lot more to be said :slight_smile:

      Yeah, this is something that will likely receive a few balancing passes before it works as intended. That being said, it's not only a matter of "how punishing" the system is, but also of mechanics. We've come up with some innovative ones for Syndesia, which of course will be covered in one of the following feature spotlights! :slight_smile:

      Hi Johnny! There is a value in that you can try the Demon, Human and Beastman life, which, as you have read, are quite different experiences πŸ™‚ Plus, the stats of your character and thus its main strengths and weaknesses are defined when you create it, so it's quite useful to have more than one!

      If you're very interested in open world PvP / full loot, you should definitely play as a Demon! πŸ˜„ Alternatively, you can play as a human and go criminal - on Syndesia it will definitely be easier to target players who are less skill in PvP, but you'll have to deal with the law.

    • Feature Spotlight #1: Three Races, Three Gameplays

      Hi everyone,

      as promised, the first Feature Spotlight of Fractured has arrived this week! The core design principles of Humans, Beastmen and Demons are now unveiled, as well as some insights on how Fractured is set to revolutionize the concept of race in the MMO genre.

      A word of warning before you start. In our initial plan for this spotlight, we wanted to not only introduce you to the three races, but also to detail their three planets, societies, religions... We've been such fools! We soon realized we would have ended up with a blog post as long as a novel - and mind, this one's not short either.

      Therefore, we decided to break the topic down into several spotlights, with the first one being "only" a high-level overview of the three races of and their Families.

      The promised video FAQ also hasn't been forgotten, worry not! Once we're done with the other couple of upcoming spotlights dedicated to the race-related matters hinted above, all the questions still unanswered will get the video reply they deserve. So keep posting and...

      @Roadkyll I don't even get what might look "scammy" in Fractured since it's a pretty standard game portal and, as @Aries pointed out, we're not even asking for any personal info when you sign up. Also, I've just tested all our emails (such as support@dymstudios.com and contact@dymstudios.com) and they work perfectly, so I'm wondering whether you're just trolling here or someone got hold of your account.

      I'm afraid it's a little too early for a question of this kind, since it goes into detail on the equipment system, and we haven't flashed out the whole system to THAT level yet πŸ˜„ What I can tell you is that we need to stay focused on core mechanics, so things like visual effects of "magical weapons" will likely come after alpha.
