      Love to see the new starter area. Basic services and crafting stations for free seem vital for new players. Perhaps once player cities get started it won’t be necessary but if their facilities are not available to the public it could be difficult for new players to upgrade their gear.

      @DevilsDog licenced Windows 7 can still be upgraded for free to windows 10. It's a loophole Microsoft deliberately left there so people can still go to windows 10 (which Microsoft prefers people to use, due to app store, commercials etc.). Just google "how to still upgrade windows 7 to windows 10 for free". I'm still on windows 7 myself, and not sure if I want to go to windows 10 yet. I guess I'm keeping windows 7 on my current PC, and when I decide to buy new PC ill put windows 10 there.

      Sounds like a very productive mess! I've been away for almost a month due to RL busy-ness but gotta say I'm impressed with the way the problems were handled here: no excuses, just clear communication and continued attempts to correct the issue learning from what went wrong and making adjustments for next attempt (e.g., running next test during the week so SpatialOS support can be more available) KUDOS to the devs. Best wishes for next try. One request: Can someone from the dev team PLEASE post some SHORT (less than 5 minute) videos on the Fractured website's 'videos' page, showing some basic game mechanics? e.g. ** making a fire ** learning a skill ** choosing a skill set ** fighting an npc denizen or mob My friends who play other games might watch a 10-30 min vid about how to play their game, but will NOT watch anything that long about another game. I can use short vids for recruiting (and for learning basic mechanics, since I don't have alpha access) Thanks! and happy merry ChristmaHannuKwankiSolstikha to all!

That happens when the deployment is already FUBAR though, likely because of the crazy amount of messages queued up. Sounds like a java/jvm memory management optimization issue Sounds like what it would do if something was accruing in the memory's younger generation without ever getting properly gc'd. Once it hits a certain threshold you get exponential diminishing returns as the underlying process spends most of its time trying to figure how to deal with its allocated memory space. Feels to me like something on the spatialos side.

      @Prometheus Hmm... let me think about how to explain If you mouse over a structured usually you get small wheels as mouse pointer and the pie menu to chose "move" or "destroy" or interact per example for chests. But at some sturctures i just get a hand symbol, like you get for looting/interacting. Then if you click it, just the "destroy" function triggers. Meanwhile i am back at my house and gladly i found 2 Fences with different behaviour, left one has the menu symbol, right one just the hand.

      Minor Changes Some tweaks applied to the login server + more detailed logging for login procedures added to the client. We hope we'll be able to put an end to connectivity issues soon. Spider Lich added to Deadwood biomes. Number of kills required to complete Wolf and Bear knowledge reduced from 30 to 20. Wolf and Bear abilities are now learned earlier in their knowledge progress. Bear's second ability is now Bash instead of Heavy Blow. Bug Fixes Navigation paths for players and monsters are now computed correctly. No more walking on cliffs and mountains Fixed a pretty terrible bug that allowed duping items placing a stack from the inventory on top of a stack in a chest. Removed "giant holes" in the Vale of Shadows. Side note: the Vale is not implemented yet, just a regular grassland biome! Restored missing rivers and lakes. Net Trap and Woodland Wisp outlines fixed. The VFX of Entangling Web is visible again.

      Minor Changes Server saving procedures improved. Over time we're going to shift away from the way we've been doing world saves so far and start relying on SpatialOS integrated systems specific for the purpose. Base damage of all weapons is now about 25% higher. Spider Lich no longer uses Magic Missiles, replaced by Ice Spikes. Wolves now use Bleeding Strike. Bears now use Bleeding Strike and Heavy Blow. Poisons are now stronger (particularly low-level ones). Cooldown of Firebolt reduced from 2 to 1 second. Cooldown of Second Wind increased from 60 to 80 seconds. Bug Fixes Handcart mesh now detaches from other players when they release a handcart. Killing wolves no longer counts towards Treant knowledge progress (it was a graphical bug only). Access to Simple Workbench is now correctly open to everyone. Arrow and spell projectiles in PvP now correctly disappear in the client when colliding with another PvP player. Animation of other players building now displayed correctly. A few other minor bug fixes.

      Hi everyone, soon after the launch of Alpha 2 on November 20, the live game server experienced some issues due to a wrong configuration file. This resulted in connectivity problems for most players who were unable to login - and even if one managed, the whole gaming experience was very clunky due to high latency and packet losses. We fixed that in the afternoon and launched a new deployment of a different machine, which has been running smoothly so far. Due to the very degraded status of the original deployment, however, we didn't manage to transfer world data from it to the new one, which means houses and other player-built world items were lost. We're working on changing our saving procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again and we apologize for the inconvenience. See you all in game! Best, Jacopo

I still cry at night about the loss of that Game. What ultimately killed it was that the concept of the game did fail by technical problems which they could not solve, not even with the support of Improbable. By looking for more developers using SpatialOS I stumbled onto this game.

Yes, the data is already invalid now, but 'server capacity' is different on SpatialOS than your normal game development, so yes, the data does present an opportunity for some educated guess.
