    • RE: Hitboxes depending on size of player characters ?

      @Gothix
      First of all, the game won't be playable with anything close to 3000 players on the same screen because the complexity grows exponentially.

      no you will not be able to nuke them all at once there

      It's a legit strategy in Albion and pretty much the only thing that gives small zergs a chance to take on considerably bigger ones. With collision on, instead of pulling everyone in the same spot, they will be one next to eachother, and instead of hitting everyone, the aoe can only hit a limited number of people, so you kill some and then you're a sitting duck on CD - no amount of enemy error can make a big zerg lose to a small zerg in this case.

    • RE: What we could craft from the glass?

      @Tuoni said in What we could craft from the glass?:

      @Peter I guess different glass materials could be used in armors and weapons as extra ingredients. There is also different kind of mineral compounds (for real) which can contain glass or parts there of, like e.g. obsidian a.k.a. "lava glass".

      Quite neat. To add to your post, mirrors are made of glass. What about such an offhand object (mirror shield??!) which has a chance to reflect mind spells?

      You can't kite groups of people in a game with burst healing. You need to engage and do burst damage.

      With collision you can't clamp big groups and drop aoe on them. You kill whoever is in front (most likely, the tanks, which will absorb the damage) and then you're on cooldowns while they run you over. No collision doesn't mean that small zergs can take on big zergs, but at least they have a chance to exploit enemy error or to defend themselves on a chokepoint.

    • RE: PvE Planet with PvP

      @Tuoni
      I disagree with Arboreus being the best solution as currently planned. There are three obvious problems: OW spots which cannot be disputed (and will result in a lot of griefing), dirt-cheap local resources compared to other regions because there's no risk in gathering, and very expensive town plots later on because there are no sieges. Unless they are willing to make compromises, such as instanced dungeons for the first problem, I don't see how these can be solved.

      Imo, the planets should have been: no-loot pvp with flagging on Arboreus, full-loot pvp with flagging on human planet, unrestricted pvp on demon planet.

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

      @asspirin
      Yes, but I mean, being able to bring multiple weapons and switch between them defeats the purpose of abilities being tied to weapons. Right now you can bring a tank weapon for initiation and after the enemies are pulled and CC'ed, you can switch to a dps melee weapon and hack them. It takes away from the purpose of zvz being about team coordination.

      @Gothix Except that in this thread we pointed out flaws in the current system instead of pushing agendas. I'm not interested in Arboreus, other than thinking of starting as a deer-kin if that's going to be the optimal nuker and if the plot-system will work as I understand, having a house there which will be eventually sold when the prices skyrocket.

    • RE: Arborian or Arborean?

      @Roccandil said in Arborian or Arborean?:

      "Hairless bipeds" is (as I recall) a quote from Screwtape Letters, so it's actually a demon's-eye view of humans.

      Could also be a reference to Plato's definition of human as a "featherless biped". It became famous because Diogenes plucked a chicken to prove that the definition is stupid, since that would be a featherless biped as well. Only in this case he used "hairless" instead of "featherless" because furry don't have feathers.

      Anyway, my bet is that humans will be simply called humans, demons will be called demons and those from arboreus will be called furries. In general, whoever has negative karma, regardless of race, will be called "red".

    • RE: What I "DO NOT" want to see in this game

      Royals in Albion are not completely useless. First, they offer new players a gradual start (huge IP cap with no pvp -> big IP cap with flagged pvp but no looting -> IP cap with full loot flagged pvp -> no IP cap, unrestricted full loot pvp). Then, it's the only place from which you can get t2/t3 resources to craft higher tier mats. Royals have a much better enchant rate for t4 and t5 nodes and it's the only place where you can farm faction points. A more obscure thing would be inis mon (yellow zone), the only place that drops the bone marrow (to craft rageclaw).

      The interesting thing is how the differences between zones in Albion are just loot values, IP cap and pvp rules. If you want to play Albion just for pve and gathering, you can play in the blue/yellow zone where you have all the pve content without pvp. You get low tier loot, but thanks to do IP cap and repair prices, it doesn't matter because you get exactly the kind of stuff you'd use and you never lose them. These being said, I never met anyone who decided to "live" in these zones.

      In a way, if we want to compare Fractured to Albion, I'd say it's more like: Arboreus = blue + yellow + HCE; Syndesia = red zone; Tartaros = black zone. My main confusion is that Fractured devs say all those zones would drop top gear (as long as it is top gear stat-wise, it doesn't matter what it's crafted from). Imagine if SBI decided to introduce in blue/yellow zones enchanted t3 resources up to 3.8 (so, 3.5 = t8 and 3.8 = 8.3). This is exactly how I see the game balance in Fractured.

    • RE: More than 8 abilities if beastkin, still truth?

      The way I understand it, shapeshifting = basically a free mount. In that regard, it should have the same restrictions as mounting and dismounting, because otherwise they are ungankable.

      @Tuoni said in GO F2P LEARN FROM OTHER:

      Yes, but I was wondering what is the problem there? How on earth it is possible that someone needs to pay 5 times more from a game than others? I did not understand the point. Or is there so biased payment system in use that someone needs to pay basically 250$ of a 50$ game because of different currency.

      Minimum wage in Ukraine is ~150€. Minimum wage in France is ~1500€. If you want to open your market to countries like Ukraine or Russia you can't sell the product at the same price you'd do in France.

      @Meiki
      @asspirin

      It still doesn't change the fact that only one race gets access to these transformations, which isn't fair in a game with ganking. Imagine this:
      scenario #1: 4 furries on human planet ganking a neutral human -> the human can't escape them because he doesn't have the speed buff
      scenario #2: 4 humans ganking a furry on human planet -> after finally dismounting him, the beast uses his transformation and runs away. Humans now can't catch up because they have the mounting restrictions.

      In the end, it has the same advantages as a free mount and it should have the same rules as mounting.

    • RE: Is this a new hyped up Albion or games that fall in that territory?

      @Gothix
      People don't compare it to Albion because it's isometric, but because right now Albion is the most successful game with similar mechanics - full loot pvp and localized markets, dynamic economy, arpg-style gameplay, zones with different pvp rules, big guilds/zvz who fight over areas.

      @AcOrP
      There are enough examples in Albion were small guilds succeded despite having small ZvZ: articula mortis reaching crystal as a solo guild and taking over territories from EGO (a huge alliance at that moment); u12 academy taking over W Anglia; 1pg leaving squad and going solo in the middle of the season and ending up as a crystal guild controlling the whole swamp area in Mercia & pushing into archganistan.
      PS: It's worth mentioning that Albion also had HCE (endgame pve content for carebears) and HGs (entry level 5v5 activity with pve).

      @asspirin said in More than 8 abilities if beastkin, still truth?:

      If shapeshifting would follow same rules as mounting, beastmen would either not need mounting or the shapeshifting. Lets leave it as it is, but make sure its balanced.

      This is not entirely true. Even if shapeshifting has the same rules as mounting, there are situations in which it is preferable: for example, you probably wouldn't be able to mount in a dungeon, but you could shapeshift. If you just got out of a disastrous zvz and the in-combat timer run out, you can immediately shapeshift and run instead of waiting for mount summon. When dismounting, you should have CD on all the skills, which shouldn't be the case when shapeshifting. You can be dismounted, but nobody can force your shapeshifting. When doing trade runs / transports / protecting caravans, your objective will ride on high carrying capacity, but slow mounts. On foot you're too slow, mounted you'll have CD when dismounting to fight the enemy, so shapeshifting might be perfect here -> fast enough to keep up with the caravan and you can run into zvz right away if attacked. Plus, from what I read, some of their abilities are good at initiating fights.

    • RE: Future Taming and Mounts - Economy Driven only thoughts?

      @Sativo
      The game will have full loot pvp, which means that we will most likely get different mount classes (with different stats): transport, armored, fast, balanced. These should be easily identifiable, so a transport mount shouldn't have the same skins as a war mount.

    • RE: [POLL] Guild tag beginning or end of the name?

      @Szai
      Albion solves this by having little shields of different colours corresponding to the faction you joined next to the name. For example, if you look at this random image from the internet https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Xc7Ky3BooM0/maxresdefault.jpg , the top information is: name, reputation icon, faction icon.

      Honestly, I prefer to have the name on top and under just the guild + alliance without additional icons. If a player is hostile towards me (regardless of faction or other reasons), their name should be red. Otherwise it should have a colour that indicates either they are neutral or in the same party / guild / alliance. Simple and intuitive.
