      Thank you! I have a document with a bunch of information and links to the sources so I just pasted it, but didn't reread the posts. Bottom line: neutral+ characters have to flag themselves for pvp.

      @rest
      Most stuff you asked about is answered in the dev posts I linked...

      I think it's pretty much confirmed that not all zones will have the same resources. Devs stated that a certain armor needs resources from different planets.
      I think it's also confirmed that there will be different metals (or possible metal rarities, can't remember exactly) in the game, which will also affect the colour of your metal items.

      I thought the flagging system was karma based not race based.

      The thing is you cannot really talk in isolation about alignment, karma and planet because they are interlinked. Flagging cannot be entirely karma based because it's unfair in white to white pvp: if you are a white player and another white attacks you, you should be able to defense yourself without penalty. Well, with karma-based flagging, even if they attack you they are still white and if you riposte, you lose karma for attacking a white character. Even worse, if you are an angel you cannot attack them because angels can't do negative actions (attack other players). These being said, white players have to flag themselves up for pvp. I assumed we will have autoflagging for stuff like invasions, but I'm not aware of any information about that.

      A character isn't locked in their karma from what I understand which means a player can be any race and any karma given time.

      Demons cannot be good, first paragraph.

      I also don't think you become banished from any planet which would imply you can't go there.

      I wasn't talking about going there during invasions, but getting banished from your planet. Same link as above, but last paragraph.

      If you are an opposed karma you suffer penalties not locked out from going there. How else would someone from another alignment obtain knowledge unlocks that require you to goto another planet?

      5th paragraph / quotet

      PS: I might be wrong about angels not being able to lose karma (do negative actions). I remember reading it somewhere, but I can't source it.

      Have you ever played a game with flagging / karma system? As a human you start with 0 karma. Going from 0 karma to -1000 karma (or whatever) is a transition period. I feel that what we are arguing about is a very basic, old and widely implemented system.

      @Gothix It's more about the hostility level, which is somehow linked to alignment. In most games you can easily recognize if a player is hostile or not by the color of their name (I can make a more detailed post about this if you need).

      there isn't a clear pattern on how karma looks.

      From my understanding, this isn't entirely true and with time they will probably make these difference even more noticeable for balance. Right now each planet is linked with an alignment-type, and each race has a starting alignment. If you lose enough karma, you'll change alignment and get banished from your planet. Now, humans and furries get a debuff on demon planet. The gameplay-issue with evil furries and humans who live on the demon planet with all benefits but didn't change their appearance to lich/abomination is that as a demon you cannot estimate their power. On the other end, demons have to do a quest and change their appearance if they want to become good. This is how I understand it.

      a demon could approach you, a human, and you'd have to guess if they'll attack or help. it shouldn't be a 'omg that's a demon they're all bad, kill them'. after all how would someone recognize a human between the 3 karma groups?

      Other than what I said before, there will probably be a flagging system (in other words, if you are hostile on a planet/to a player, your name is red, with the exception of demon world where everyone not allied with you is red).

      @asspirin
      ZvZ can be fun once you get used to it, and individual players can make a difference. If you are very good (like KickinMachine in Albion, you will get your own kill team with pocket healer and buffer). The RNG CC might change the fights a bit indeed: one tank alone might not be able to delay a flanking group. However, when it comes to engaging and CC'ing the main group, I doubt it would be any difference because you'll have multiple tanks jumping in.

      PS: It's either a bug or some skills/mobs do damage to your HP (middle/red bar) because in the latest test there were situations when mobs killed me in the Creeping forest while having Endurance (top/green bar) way above 0, and life (middle/red bar) at the minimum.
      PPS: I played both games with rng combat and without, and I'd pick no-rng every time especially when it comes to CC chance.

      After the last test, I might consider deer -> abomination as well because it's the optimal nuker build.

      @Jetah said in Extra races on Syndesia:

      oh that's the silhouette. but that doesn't work here because karma can change for everyone. we'll have poisitive demons, either humans, and negative beastkin. so the silhouette wont matter.

      If they think in advance about this, they could pull it off Fable/Kotor-style. Good-aligned creatures other than the animals (pale/ light green, eventually with little wings), neutral creatures (human skin complexion range), evil creatures (dark red/blue, eventually with horns). So basically, a bear abomination would lose some fur, change its colour towards a dark-red tone and get horns. For example, a naga could keep the appearance of your initial character on the upper body and only change the tail's main colour: white or light blue for good, brown for neutral, black or dark red for evil.
      My point is that as long as they have a clear pattern of how good, evil and neutral creatures should look like, the above concern shouldn't exist.

      if you're going there with the reskin then everything is just a reskin human.

      The current races have gameplay impact. A human can be spec'ed to anything, but cannot go above 18 in an attribute. A deer can be the top nuker in the game (with nat 21INT, 20PER), but since it has 15STR and 16CON cap, it cannot compete as a tank with a bear (20STR, 21CON) or hellfire demon (21STR, 21CON). All the current races in the game have bonuses that cover a small number of classes (and there are already 6 races that cover all the possible 6 affinities).

      ! month is a bit extreme, but long respawn times on bosses locked in some dungeon for which you had to do quests in order to get access wasn't uncommon 15 years ago. For example, https://forum.pmfun.com/viewtopic.php?p=61720

      Since gameplay-wise they are exactly the same... yes.

      PS: And I said racial restrictions should apply to easily identify their base racial bonuses and eventual hostility level. For example, big animal = bear, medium animal = wolf, small animal = deer, humanoid looking thing such as elf = human, big and mean evil looking thing = hellfire demon etc). I also said that it's not uncommon for games which allow reskins to give people the option to turn them off.

      If such feature is there, hopefully it will be. However depends whether heals are aimed or just "click portrait to heal"

      As I said previously, imo we should have both. Skillshot heals should either heal more or have extra effects compared to point and click ones because they are harder to land.

      I know, it was just for illustration

      I was just making fun of EGO in general (lots of low tier horses, dubious helmets, nonfaction capes etc), not of that specific player (which is probably new by looking at his gear and achievements on the right panel).

      lets just hope invisible one shot glass canon assassins will leave them alone to do their thing

      If you are in a guild where this happens more than once a month during zvz, you can probably take it as a sign that you need to be in another guild. Usually guilds have a few scouts around the big group who make sure that their backline isn't steamrolled by a flanking group while engaging the enemy.

      Of course I agree that dedicated healer is invaluable in PvE <...>

      Leaving aside that a character optimised for healing will be by far a lot better healer than anyone else, you can't heal yourself if you are stunned. A dedicated healer who stays behind can heal you tho. In case you missed your CC, you have more tries if you bring other similar skills. As a mage, you want to fill your bar with as many nukes (they usually have a long CD) - every slot taken by a different skill will reduce your DPS in zvz, so probably one escape skill is all you will have. The only way to make a dedicated healer useless is to either have only self-healing spells or completely remove healing.

    • RE: NPC (Node Specific Towns)

      I don't really understand what you mean. You want trees to be gathered only in forest areas, iron only in mountain areas and so on? Or you want towns to pick a specific bonus (for example armor crafting costs 20% less resources here)? Or maybe it's something else? Can you be more specific?

      @Jetah
      The existing races cover all the playstyles, so unless they start with giving new racial bonuses (better alchemy or enchanting for elves, better mining for dwarves, better smithing for orcs etc) to the new races, they would be just reskins anyway. I wouldn't mind these being sold (not as a new race at character creation, but as a store consumable with racial restrictions) because they wouldn't affect gameplay whatsoever. And if you don't like skins, a bunch of games out there give players the option to completely turn them off (Fractured could have that). The "too little effort" part is debatable. For the case of orcs and elves, unless they look like very pale/green people, the devs have to waste some time tweaking and polishing the animations and textures.

      @Logain Yes, but since someone already started the thread and there are no other interesting things going on right now... 😛

      Point an click might get difficult, if you had to fight in big numbers

      That's why I said we should have all the mentioned healing mechanics (scaled differently, based on the difficulty of landing the skill). This would cover different play styles and different situations.

      PS: Since you linked Albion, on the left side you have the party bar. You can use that if you want to heal someone with a point and click spell.
      PPS: Lmao at that zvz build (with t3 horses and low tier food/hpp).

      Im not sure whether it was already decided and I don´t want to misinform anyone, but somewhere on forums I read they´re planning that you can accidentally heal your enemy if your healing spell hits them. If so, aimed heals are uselsss (unless they can pierce) and aoe heals are also useless.

      That seems like a very bad idea to me too. If you remembered this correctly, then I hope devs will change their minds on it.

      Luckily so far it seems Fractured has way more self heals than AO, so the role of "healer" might not be as important.

      I disagree with this. Dedicated healers are always a good thing: they stay in the backline, away from CC and damage; they have optimised stats and builds for healing, so they are by far more efficient than the low int archers; tanks/dps don't have to fill their skillbars with practically useless stuff for their role.

      @Jetah Yes, but since they will pretty much be reskins (and some of them, like the naga, would take some effort to implement), I think it's fair to be sold as skins.

      @Mirgannel12 Skill decay is one of the things I hate with passion because at first it seems like a decent idea, but the process of actually trying to change your skillset is just frustrating and you're better off with creating an alt instead.

      @asspirin I remember seeing a healing spell in the last test, but if I'm not mistaken it was a point and click. If burst healing will be a thing, I don't see why we wouldn't have all the healing mechanics mentioned by you. Of course, a skillshot should heal more (or give extra effects) compared to a point and click skill.

      Each race has a unique bonus: human get extra SP and each of the other races gets affinity with an attribute - 6races, 6attributes. What racial bonus would elves get?

      PS: I wouldn't mind if elves and orcs would be sold as a reskin for the human race.
