      As to abusable light levels, I'd consider making it easy for the player to see the screen/world in darkness, but the not the player's character.

      So, for instance, enemies simply wouldn't be rendered on screen unless the character could see them (based on skills/attributes/gear/etc.). That would mean adjusting contrast/brightness on one's screen would be irrelevant.

      Sounds like normal gear won't be amazing/rare (no legendary items?), just tailored for specific uses, and some resources are heavy, so looting may not work quite the same way as in other games.

      Here's hoping, however, that cosmetic purchased items can't be looted.

      I never played the Witcher games, but GWENT sounds like way beyond what I was thinking. I was actually thinking of Arcomage, which was a card game in M&M 7 and 8 (late 90's). It was so popular that they published it as a separate game. It's still available as "Archmage" on Android.

      Like I said, I think it would be a great community contest to come up with mini-game ideas for taverns, then have the devs flesh them out. It wouldn't even have to be before release, although something like Arcomage could probably be coded pretty quickly.

      I vaguely remember Arcomage! Those were fun games. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Apparently becoming or being a lich has nothing whatsoever to do with good or evil alignment in the game, kinda like fishing (I assume!). ๐Ÿ™‚ It's just not related.

      Angels and Beastmen, on the other hand, -do- involve the good and evil in-game alignment system.

      As I see it, mounted combat:

      • makes PvP harder to balance;
      • increases the speed of travel (effectively making maps smaller);
      • for the cost of development, ultimately adds relatively little unique gameplay (in my experience, everyone -has- to be mounted, so you've simply relocated the combat framework, not expanded it).

      All the same, I agree it would be nice if done right, but I think the cost outweighs the gain.

      Given my experiences with mounted combat in Wurm Online, I'm totally onboard -not- having it in Fractured.

      Horses are always the first targets (because anyone on foot is basically dead, despite spears), so everyone brings extra, and the field is littered with horse corpses.

      Gearing up all those horses for the grinder is a pain (barding/saddles/horseshoes), not to mention the effort required to breed them or get the skill required to tame and ride the best mounts (hell horses), which have themselves proved unbalancing (they allow far too rapid logistical response times, for one thing).

      So, I think I'd just prefer foot combat. ๐Ÿ™‚

      The more I hear about Fractured, the more it feels like the -only- real progression will be in exploring, and in the political dynamics the players themselves will bring to the game.

      For whatever reason, that dampens my enthusiasm a little. But we'll see how it plays out.
