    • The Tutorial – To Add, Please Don't

There is a great deal of discussion about what is included in the tutorial and items that should be added. The fact is, that we are lucky that there is a tutorial at all. Fractured is designed around the concept of exploration, discovery, and learned knowledge; it is not based on a handout of how-to’s and instruction books.

I personally believe that the very most added to the current tutorial should be limited to a link to the Wiki, with the words “If you have any other questions please consult the Fractured Wiki” or something similar. The further we go with this game the more folks seem to forget how we learned to do things. We explored! We stumbled around in the dark until we bumped into the answer! This is part of the wonder of Fractured. There are resources out there but no one is holding your hand; you are not being spoon fed the answers! Go forth and explore!!!

    • Tanning Tubs – Solutions, an Idea or Two

I really do like the communal tanning tub idea. No one really wants tanning tubs all over their city; it would stink. With that said, here is my idea…

Each tub would require a key to unlock it. A player would stop off at the town hall and pick up their key and proceed to the tanning tub.

When the key is picked up a 24 hour counter would start. It only takes 16 hours to process leather and so 24 hours is plenty of time for a player to create their leather and retrieve it.

A key will automatically return to the town hall and become available to other players again after either the holder removes their leather from the tub, or 24 hours elapses, whichever happens first.

If after 24 hours elapse and there are items left in the tub they become “Spoiled Leather” and will have to be thrown out. It adds a bit of realism as any hide left too long to process would get ruined. This also prevents players from camping on tubs hoping someone doesn’t show up to claim their leather.

There could also be a 1 hour lockout timer on a player being able to go back and pick up the same key again. That way if there is a shortage of available tubs they can’t just pull their leather and run and grab the key because they know when it will be showing back up in the town hall.

I know @Wennid mentioned a Tanner NPC and I think that could even be combined with my idea. Use a key for the public tubs and that of course is free or players could choose to go and pay the Tanner NPC to do it for them. The difference, the NPC costs gold but has a longer time limit for picking up your leather (perhaps 48 hours instead of 24.)

You could even add on to the NPC idea with things like

      1. You failed to pick up on time now there is a small fine
      2. You are more than a week late your item is now in offsite storage pay a fine and come back in two days.

      Those are my thoughts anyway.

@Kralith I took this screenshot slightly more than 4 and 1/2 hours ago. So as can be seen we have all of the same buildings from my screenshot to yours but the prestige has gone down. Definite proof of a bug!

    • RE: Tanning Tubs Are a Disaster

@Kirkuz I was online; I was standing right there watching the last two minutes count down. Guess what, so was someone else. When the time was up they stared grabbing my leather just as fast as I did. When I asked them if they just took my leather they said “yep” Their excuse was someone else stole theirs so they were going to take mine.

Hey, I didn’t take theirs. I didn’t take anyone’s. In fact, when I put my hides in the tub I made sure to leave room for other people to put some of their hides in as well. The thief that stole mine had 40 hides stolen. Why? Because they took up that much space at one time not caring if anyone else needed to tan their hides.

If standing there over your own hides as the last seconds tick off can’t protect them then there is a serious problem, and it isn’t with the folks putting the hides in the tanning tubs!

I set a timer. I was there to protect what was mine. It didn’t matter. This doesn’t work; plain and simple. I am very glad that some towns have honorable citizens. The hard facts though are that not all people work that way and there needs to be a reasonable solution. It is a big issue for a lot of people.

I, personally, would love to see the Powers That Be fix this issue while still maintaining the public tanning tubs. The idea that tanning your leather in the game is done in a public building is great, in my opinion.

    • RE: [Prestige] Towns prestige is stucking, decaying and counting wrong

@Vortech I shared before the hot fix and was really hoping that something would be done when they fixed the trees. I was so angry last night when I saw how much we had lost and realized that we, and others, would never reach level 15. I am so glad that we were finally heard and that something is being done about it.

I really do feel for the Dynamight team in that they will likely have to rewrite the code from scratch but this is a city breaking issue and should have been addressed before today. I do hope that they are able to get it done soon as I like the prestige factore in upgrading a city and it is going to be very strange without it. (better than broken though 🙂

I consider it a lucky thing that we only need to eat and not drink as well. "Satiety" is an important factor in this type of game play. It is part of the robust, immersive style of game that is Fractured.

Of course I am hoping that with all of the different foods that are harvestable already that we will be able to create different levels of of food types in the future that allow for less frequent consumption and perhaps some types of bonuses as well.

I love that we must eat as well as rest!

@StormBug said in Character ID 603 already logged in to world:

@Arcahem or @Lunoshi I can’t play because my Character ID 603 is already logged in to the world. I have less than 24 before I leave on vacation with no access to a computer. Would one of you please get me back into the game so I can play? Pretty please?

So, 8 days later and I still can’t login. I know that the extended lockout is an issue for multiple people and not just me. The really exciting thing about this fact though folks, the part I truly like best about not getting to play this game, is that those that should be responding to these posts and the bug reports in Discord, obviously don’t give a rats butt about us or this issue. If they did then they would at the very least let us know what to expect. However, we are left in the dark and have no idea when we will be able to play again.

I do understand that the devs can’t drop what they are doing to fix every little issue. We do have several folks between us and the devs however, and they are quite capable of communication, even if they aren’t able to fix the problem. Specter used to be a God in this department, he COMMUNICATED!

We need a post from some form of game management about this issue. It is only fair to those of us who paid to be in on this level of testing. We can’t test if we can’t play, so at the very least let us know what to expect in regards to getting back online.

    • Mini Map Oddity

I don't know if this oddity on the mini map is intentional or a graphical error. It showed up for both my brother and I while we were running through the area last night. The river looks normal when you run by it but it looks odd on the map.

And thus you'd almost certainly starve content for non-consensual PvP/raids/highwaymen.

      Very good point!

When the alternative is traveling to cities that allow open PvP or might kill you once you get near their gate, I think the utility of inns as travel waypoints and rest stops reveals itself.

I could agree with it but only if the hearth was limited to allowing you to regain your health. It should not include skill memorization or anything else. It would help compensate for those PVE folks that stick it out in the wild until they have a mostly grey bar and are trying to limp home. They can get rid of the grey bar and have enough health to make it home in a PVP world. No other perks should be provided though; it just makes it too easy.

Personally, I'm open to that, but are you confident that mere health restoration and poison mitigation would be enough for folks to use inns?

Oh yes. In fact, I would be more than willing to pay a bit of gold to use an Inn to restore just health while out in the wild. Those grey ticks are murder. Our guild has an unwritten policy of three ticks down and we head home. Would sure be nice to get to stay out just a bit longer.

    • RE: Master Crafters not Recipe Junkies

      @Contucky
That’s just it, I don’t think folks should be able to get recipes for a sum of money. Recipes should always be earned. Let each player decide which item they ultimately wish to craft and work in that direction. Along the way they must attempt to “learn” a recipe; I described how in an earlier post in this thread. So instead of killing mobs they are crafting for the percentage chance at learning the desired recipe. You end up with most of the same qualities that you like about the current system but with a great deal more benefits to crafters.

In my honest opinion, at the moment, true crafters are getting screwed. They are required to go out and fight endless mobs or pay crazy sums of money to obtain recipes that they, by all reason and rights, should be able to learn by crafting or studying.

    • Packing Station Solution Idea

It isn’t the time it takes to load my wagon that I mind but, is instead, the endless clicking and opening and closing of windows. So my idea is this, give us controls on the storage screen, just like there are on the packing screen, letting us select the number of and type of bags we want (maybe make it a bit simpler and just select cereals or proteins.) Then we could click on a button that says “Load Wagon” the window goes away and you click the wagon you want to load. Of course if the wagon has insufficient space you press esc and try again.

Then we wait while our character loads the wagon. Wonder of wonders with this solution we actually get to see the entire animation, the endless, and unnecessary, opening and closing of windows is gone, and yet the time it takes to load the wagon is still there like the developers want it to be. It is a win win in my opinion. I personally would like to watch the loading of the wagon uninterrupted.

    • RE: Feedback on Legends

      @GamerSeuss

You are completely correct in that most of us bring enough items to do at least two summons if not three or more. This would make it reasonable to revert to the no announcement of a Legend spawn as then PvP folks would know at the death of a Legend that there is very likely a group summoning that Legend again. Another option would be to shorten the announcement time to something more reasonable like 5 minutes. The Legend would still take 10 minutes to summon but the announcement wouldn’t go out until 5 minutes had passed.

The two options above also deters PvP folks from simply sitting around waiting for PvE folks to summon a Legend for them and never gathering the required items themselves.

Please note that I am not trying to favor either side here. I am simply attempting to find a middle ground for both sides on Syndesia in regards to Legends.

    • RE: Races restricting freedom of play.

@deathfromace I personally don’t see how the game restricts play style. It may restrict your appearance if you want to travel with differently aligned characters right from character creation but it won’t restrict your play style. Also, as you can have more than one character you and your brother could each create two characters and help each other level up until you both have one character that can crossover. If you like all other aspects of the game this one thing doesn’t have to be a game breaker.

@GamerSeuss I once had a new DM that insisted on making everyone’s characters for them. I thought that this was the most heinous thing ever, at first, especially when I was handed my character sheet. I was given a character that had a trait “Stupidly Brave” I looked at that and thought for a few minutes getting very irate; then I went from anger to absolute glee evil grin It was one of the best times I ever had playing a character and every time a party member tried to question my actions I would look at our DM and say “Stupidly Brave” and bust up laughing. I worked very hard to find every way to utilize that trait because it was more fun to fully develop the character I was given then to miss out on playing. You have no idea the havoc a truly stupidly brave character can cause, LMAOROTF!

Now that fits! I like the notion of tying the prestige to the legends like you suggested, very interesting. Even if they don't go that route, however, the idea of using the summoning group's alignment to determine whether the Legend is announced before arrival is fantastic.
