    • RE: Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!

      @FibS said

. but still an utterly pointless farce that adds nothing to a game except anti-fun.

In your opinion. I love the way they are handling death. If you pay attention it is very hard to die to begin with. If you sleep in a city near where you are adventuring there aren't any nightmarishly long walks to get your corpse. The excitement that I get from the chance at dying and losing what I am carrying is fantastic. I have played games with the only penalty you have is "oh dear a tiny experience debt and I have to run back to where I was fighting" soooo boring!!!

I jumped on board this game because it is what it is. With the number of options for play style, ease of survivability, and the fact that you can craft your own armor, asking for them to nullify the penalty for death is ludicrous.

    • RE: Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!

I do NOT, let me repeat that, I DO NOT want to play a game where death has no meaning. It is BORING! Fighting loses all of the thrill it is meant to have. So what if you die; just revive and go at the mob again, and again, and again, and again…. Tedious, Dreary, Dull, YUCK!

There are so many ways to prevent mass loss of your possessions. The worst you really have to worry about if you’re smart is one set of gear and whatever you collected on that particular run; that’s it. You make your own gear so replacing that is relatively easy so we are down to what you collected on that run. You now have some idea of what went wrong the first time. You are better prepared. It is not the end of the world.

I will never again play a game that makes death meaningless. If death were ever to become meaningless in Fractured I would leave the game so fast that the heads of every one of its creators would spin for days. Seriously, what is the point of a game you can’t fail at?

    • RE: PVE and PVP Alts Question

@PeachMcD said in [PVE and PVP Alts Question]

folks who prefer PvE get called a lot of nasty names ('farmer' and 'coward' ....

I figure that I would hear that for wanting to be PVE with a PVP alt and not go strictly PVP. I am glad I am going to get to give PVP a try during testing with an alt. Since I have never done it before I am going to be very bad at it so I had better get some practice in now before everything becomes permanent 🙂

    • PVE and PVP Alts Question

So, I already know some folks are going to have an issue with this; please table it for the moment. I have never done PVP and would like to give it a try but I don’t want to give up PVE. What I want to know is, can we have a PVE character and a PVP alt?

Like I said I have never done PVP before but I am starting to get really interested. I want to try it out but don’t want to abandon PVE to do so. I know this is Alpha Testing but is this something we can do now; will we be able to do it at game launch?

      @Nekrage ? @Specter ?

Also, @Nekrage, I know that you have very set ideas on PVP so I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. How do you feel about people that have always preferred PVE having an alt to try out PVP, or just playing one of each?

    • RE: What are the "Optional" choices you would like to see in the next test?

I am going to agree with the idea of the option or options that are easiest on our Powers That Be. That is my first choice. If those happen to be Trolls and their encampments and Ability Leveling I would be extra excited.

    • RE: Roadmap To Alpha 2 - Test 4

What’s enticing me the most? You mean I have to choose one thing? 🙂

To start with, the horses not only mean faster travel but since they can be wounded it adds a level of interest to the game that is missing in so many others.

Will there be armor for the horses?
      Will there be saddlebags?
If so, when your horse dies does it lose its items?

Can’t wait for those wagons! Will we be able to place small items inside or only logs and large stone like the hand carts?

Thank you, thank you for mini-map pins and direct trading! These will make playing so much less frustrating and so much more enjoyable! The improvements to cities are very exciting as they offer me many new and continuous ways to contribute. I also get better armor and weapons, happy dance!

    • RE: Worried for the country house

I have the best of both worlds, as I am a member of a city and I have my home built out in the country. I started out with a home in town but grew board with the limited size. I collected all of my belongings and placed them in chests at a friends house, got rid of my city house and purchased one in the wilderness.

If you don't want to be a city member though you can always barter for things you can't make yourself. There is almost always someone around that is willing to make a reasonable trade for almost anything, so living in the wilderness shouldn't be to hard to accomplish.

    • The Trees are Our Enemy

So, every time I try to fight an enemy under a tree the dang tree insists on joining the fight. Oh sure it has never actually hit back but it might as well have. When I suddenly begin chopping at that tree instead of swinging on my true opponent it can cause all kinds of problems.

I propose that in order to be able to chop trees or harvest plants we need to Tab-Click (or whatever button is clever.) This is not the same as Tab-Targeting as it is noncombat related. It simply means that during combat you can’t accidentally click on a tree or plant; the same would apply to running. (Yippee, the trees are friendly again! No more accidentally chopping trees in combat or stopping to pick up unwanted plants on a long run.) Just my $0.02

I love that we lose everything on death. In this game death actually means something. Please never take that away! Any game that makes death easy isn’t worth playing.

    • Ghostly Images, blueprint time limit idea

There seems to be a great number of cart and campfire blueprints just hanging out in the world. These ghostly images are bit distracting. I am wondering if it is possible to have a time limit for blueprints that no one is working on. For instance, if there has never been any materials added to a blueprint for 24 hours it vanishes. In addition, maybe if a blueprint that is not located on a home or city lot has not had additional materials added to it for over 48 hours it vanishes. This would help clean up the world a bit and as blueprints are free it isn’t a big deal to lose that ghostly image.

    • RE: bug can't build anything in my house

Success! I have a 3x3 with fireplace, enchanting table, and plenty of chests. That stupid 2x2 is still standing on that unclaimed lot though and you can open and close the door. One of lifes little mysteries. Anyone wanting to investigate can find it at 100W, -172N

I shall claim new land. There is, however, a 2x2 house still sitting on an unclaimed lot. Free unfurnished house anyone? Wonder if it would work?

      LMAO

I tried abandoning my claim and then reclaiming it but the house wont go away. The last time I abandoned a claim the house vanished but this one really wants to stick around. I'm not even upset; it's just funny, frustrating but funny.

@Smax I am having the same problem.

To The Powers That Be, for the Fireplace it says "You must be inside a building you own to place this." With everything else the blueprint is just red and won't let me actually place it.

If it helps to fix the issue, I built the 2x2 house and when I stand inside it the coordinates are 100W, -172N

    • RE: Tanning Tubs Are a Disaster

@Roccandil Smell penalties, LMAO I pretty much meant big picture. Industry is usually located away from homes and industry that smells well away. Right now those playing outside of cities have multiple city dwellers willing to trade hides for leather so you can get away without needing a tub in your wilderness home.

I am seeing multiple ideas passed around to solve the issue about tanning hides and that doesn't include what our fearless leaders already have in mind, so I am sure that we will end up with a solution that works for everyone in the end.
