      Fractured seems to be aiming for very little if not zero gear progression. Prometheus has made claims that a brand new player can compete gear-wise with a veteran. Different gear instead serves different functions. For example, plate armor might offer more physical protection but slow you down. There are also survival mechanics that take gear into account. Going into a desert with full plate armor will probably be a bad idea.

      You also won't be able to loot full items. All gear will be crafted.

      @benseine PvE sieges would be cool. Piss off some goblins and they show up as a horde that you have to defend against. Don't know if that fits with the whole "one with nature" thing Arboreus has going on though.

      I think that comes down to a matter of speed. If it takes 2 years of grinding to get to the top vs paying and getting there now, that's 2 years of a competitive advantage(both economic and combat). That's pretty p2w.

      The combat advantage obviously won't be there in Fractured, but I can see one form where an economic advantage could get you unfairly ahead: settlement building. If a guild can use irl money to purchase resources that allows them to get vastly upgraded buildings, making their settlement harder to siege, that would give them a big advantage over other guilds that aren't spending.

      @finland I thought I read it in the pvp spotlight, but it doesn't say one way or the other. But it does make a distinction between thieving and murdering, and I don't think they would say that if you had to kill someone to loot them. Keep in mind, you have 2 health bars (endurance and health). You take endurance damage before you take health damage, and when you lose all endurance you become unconscious. Knocking someone unconscious isn't killing them, and I think this is where you can steal from them. If I had to guess the difference between thieving and executing/looting is that you can't steal equipped gear. The reason I'm not considering pickpocket is because it hasn't been mentioned anywhere.

      Maybe there's a skill that makes a short lived portal that allies can go through or some other kind of team based mobility. Also, you can change your build pretty easily. Fractured's system encourages kitting your character for specific environments/encounters.

      I kinda hope not. It feels like MMO's are becoming checklist simulators. It's even worse when progress is gated by daily/weekly resets. I miss when you could grind whatever you wanted as much as you wanted.

      I like the idea but not necessarily for every build all the time. Maybe it could be something you can spec for with talents.

      You can if you're shooting someone that's running away. "Backstab" damage + a fear effect with a ranged weapon could be really good.

      It is b2p, although it is not clear (at least to me) if any expansions will be free or b2p.

      As of 9 months ago, no plans for paid expansions or dlc.

      @jetah I don't really know enough about either AWS or SpatialOS to really say. But I think the difference is that AWS scaling is just throwing more servers at an issue which doesn't necessarily work for video game calculations, and SpatialOS has more sophisticated communication between servers that allows multiple servers to handle the same thing. I could be and am likely pretty wrong though. @Prometheus or someone with more knowledge than me would have to clarify.

      I imagine easily acquired gear will have very middling stats. Rarer resources could be used to craft equipment with more extreme tradeoffs, making them coveted by people min-maxing their builds.

      @belwolff From what we know, there's nothing to restrict you from using anything, though you'll be more or less effective with different gear depending on your stats.

      There won't be endgame armor. There's no gear treadmill. Whatever armor you start with should be competitive with anyone else's armor.

      That's a pretty ridiculous exaggeration of bad feedback. That specific feedback would be ignored. If it was "X is broke, please fix", and it was being echoed, then the devs would know that there's something wrong with X or players' perception of X.

      @zwiterion I, too, enjoyed Aika 😉

      I don't think an interplanetary version system would work too well in Fractured. The races/planets are too asymmetrical. It might work as a GvG thing on Tartaros and Syndesia and could be a catalyst for sieges.

      I don't think the buffs should affect combat in any way, it would just make strong guilds stronger.

      Good players can freely attack evil players. They would both be taking a risk.
