      Oh yes it will...
Leveling up those skills will take a major amount of time, and that will prevent people re rolling.

Leveling up all 400 skills to level 3 will take a major amount of time. I doubt 8 skills will take much more than a week or two especially if you already know what to do.

On the other hand if you allow changing of attribute points, then people will keep changing them even when they are filled up with 400 skills, every time when they want to switch from playing a "mage" to playing a "warrior" or whatever. They will be able to copy anyone, at any time, even in late point in game.

Being so strict with stats makes sense where you only get one character with no possible ability to have alts, but that's not Fractured. There's nothing stopping that person with all skills from just having a dedicated meta alt that they keep rerolling into whatever the flavor of the month is. In this situation, the only difference between the old character respeccing and making a new character is the amount of time it takes to learn and level up the meta skills on the new character, and since Fractured doesn't have much vertical progression it won't take much time for that alt to reach full potential.

MMO where people read web, search cookie cutter builds, and change them as they wish. You have a zerg of clones of players running around all wielding same stuff.
I certainly do not want that, and permanent attribute points is one thing that will prevent this.

Can you explain your logic behind this? People are just going to look up the meta builds before they make their characters instead of trying to figure out the game on their own when experimentation is so harshly punished. And it's not like the burden of creating a meta build is high; you just need a handful of skills and then level them up which might take a week at most with a brand new character. Having permanent stats isn't going to prevent cookie cutter builds at all.

People like that should get one free respec to do it right.

This game has 400 skills that you can freely mix together and you have to choose how strong you want those skills to be before you even know what they are; not to mention that it takes time to max out skills to see their full potential. If you're going into the game blind and aren't following any guides, it will take far more than one or two tries to get right. This will lead to more cookie cutter builds; people are risk averse and if you tell someone that they can't undo a decision, they'll just look up how to do something the "right" way instead of experimenting themselves.

This game's skill system is based on Guild Wars 1's. I welcome anyone who hasn't, to try it. And play through without undoing your attributes or following any guides or looking up what skills are in the game or how they scale with attributes. Even then the GW1 system spreads out build decisions over time making it less harsh than Fractured's "pick your final build at character creation".

If you can also swap your attributes, what need is there to ever create a 2nd character?

To play as a different race. Also, you can have respecs without it being as easy as swapping skill loadouts.

I'm seeing new planets as a means to introduce new races without the need for spaceships.

I don't think a lore reason is necessary for new stuff to be added to existing planets. It's nice, but I'd rather they just add things that will make the game better without having to contrive massive game altering narratives if they don't have the resources for it. If one day there's just more land with more stuff to explore attached to the existing areas without much explanation as to how it got there, I'm fine with that.

      Also, hollow planets.

Agreed, I hope there is a way to reroll stats. I like to experiment with builds and endlessly remaking and deleting alts doesn't sound very appealing.

A problem with adding new planets, especially ones that can be lived on, is that it decreases activity on the existing planets. IMO it's something that should only be done if the size of the playerbase can support it.

If I recall correctly, it was only said that you can be killed on your plot (i.e. if you get caught outside). I doubt there's much someone can do if you're inside your house because they can't come in if you don't let them.

@esoba @chrightt I've never seen a cash shop that had temporary skins. That sounds like an absolutely terrible business practice.

@tulukaruk Alt preparation doesn't seem like it would take long at all. It would just be acquiring and leveling a handful of skills.

As for if it's a problem, it depends on how siege mechanics and territory defense works. If for example a rival guild can invade at any time it would basically be mandatory to have offline characters positioned in important places so that the guild can log off and login to their alts when they get word of an attack. It's an issue because holding large amounts of territory should be an increasingly complex logistical problem, which a smaller guild should be able to leverage against a larger guild when attacking, but that all goes out the window if the larger guild can simply log off and into an alt to be everywhere at once.

Neither. One of the basic premises of this game is that you don't really grow in power.
