    • RE: Slaves

I don't know enough about how NPCs will work to have a strong opinion one way or another, but I'm not against the idea of enslaved NPCs. It seems like it would be especially appropriate on Tartaros.

If an NPC slave system is being considered, I want to put forth Life is Feudal's slave system for having player slaves. In Life is Feudal, when an enemy player is knocked out, an "enslave" ability can be used on them. This ability kills the player and creates an NPC slave with the player's stats and appearance. The enslaved player respawns and can play as usual but their title is forced to "Slave" for a few days, and the enslave ability doesn't work on them while they have this title. The NPC slave lives for 10 days before expiring.

I thought it was a pretty interesting system even if the game itself wasn't so great.

    • RE: Will this game be P2W in the future?

Knowledge slots and increased knowledge gain increase the rate you can learn skills, and depending on how strict you want to define p2w, it might fit that definition, but I personally don't see it that way.

The way the skill system works is that there are 400 skills with 3 variations each and you pick 8 to put on your hot bar, and you can swap out these 8 skills every time you rest. Each skill's strength is determined by the attributes you set at character creation. To learn a skill, you have to go out into the world and complete tasks specific that skill. When you've completed enough, you take a tome and knowledge (which is Fractured alternative to experience) and equip that skill into a study slot which will start a countdown (that can be lowered through active play) which culminates in your new usable skill.

The reasons I don't consider extra knowledge or study slots p2w are:

      1. Skill progress is completely horizontal. You start out with a competent set of skills and can already compete with veterans once you've got a decent set of equipment (which is also completely horizontal).

      2. The main limit on the rate that you can learn skills is the tasks that are needed to begin studying them. From an example they've shown, the tasks are pretty specific and completing a large amount of them in a short enough timespan might be fairly challenging.

      3. Since you can only equip 8 skills, once you've put together a solid build, the only real reason to keep learning skills is to experiment or have alternative builds for different situations, and since your attributes are limited and unchanging, most skills are going to be irrelevant to your attribute distribution. Learning every skill isn't necessary.

@miikiious It was confirmed in a Q&A. Angels can't accrue negative karma because they're forced into good alignment which doesn't allow them to commit evil actions.

    • RE: I want a new MMO to play and saw a review on this game.

They're adding in 'content' based on how much we pay?

Yeah, that's how development works. Everything added has a cost associated with it. All the kickstarter goals are extras that aren't integral to the game.

Is there a 'skill tree' or is it a 'mastery tree' like Albion

There's a talent tree but it doesn't seem to be as deep as Albion's.

Is the game going to get fucked by the devs 'balancing' the mastery tree people spend months on to get a specialization in a specific thing and all of a sudden a character is worthless? Or is there going to be Skill Tree like ArcheAge where you could switch between skill sets and become a hybrid of something and players determining the meta builds instead?

Fractured's character building is almost completely horizontal. There are 400 skills each with 3 variations and you have to pick 8 to put on your skill bar. The attributes that you set at character creation determine the strength of each skill, and the talent tree is meant to complement the skills you choose. Every time your character rests, you can respec everything but your attributes.

With the crazy amount of freedom we have with builds, there will likely be frequent balancing as OP builds pop up that the devs didn't predict, but that shouldn't be much of a problem with how easy it is to respec.

Look up the spotlights in the news section for more info on the game. Here are the ones relevant to character building: Races, knowledge system, skills, and attributes

    • RE: About Angel, Abomination, Karma and Bonuses

@orky said in About Angel, Abomination, Karma and Bonuses:

If Demon get bonuses on Tartaros and decay on other other planets while other races get karma decay on Tartaros, will Angel get karma decay on Tartaros and become demon again or will they keep the demon trait and be protected of this decay?

The race transformations are permanent, including the alignments of angels and abominations. We don't know if there are other things karma is used for, but for what we know so far, once you've turned into an angel or abomination karma stops being relevant in regards to your alignment.

And will Angel be able to stay without time limits on other planets?

We know they can stay permanently on Syndesia. Last we heard is that the devs are undecided if they can stay permanently on Arboreus.

To the Abomination now, Beastmen get a huge debuff from Badilis when they are on Tartaros, does it also apply to Abomination? And are abomination still able to stay on their origin world without time limit like Beastmen or do they become time-limited like Demons?

Abominations are basically treated as demons in all cases. They're accepted on Tartaros and shunned and debuffed on Arboreus.

    • RE: Games Without AH

I don't see Fractured's economy focusing so much on trade between individuals but between individuals and towns. Because of the way Fractured emphasizes the logistics of resource transportation, I think your example of a third party auction house that connects individuals is extremely unlikely. What's more realistic is a third party site that will list the average price of goods for each town's market that individuals can use to figure out where they want to trade.

    • RE: Mentor system

I agree with the sentiment that a mentor system that bypasses task requirements goes against the spirit of the game. It might be fitting if it just applied to the discovery of the skill (so you'd still have to do tasks and study to even use it), but that seems like it would hurt the exploration aspect of skill learning (though I guess a wiki would already do that).

A sort of mentor system I'd be okay with is one that shortens the study time for skills. For example, if you see someone cast a skill you're studying, it shortens the timer. To make it less gamey (like having someone basically afking while hitting the skill button over and over so the person studying can learn faster), it can be made so each person seen using the skill only counts once, so the student has to go out and find new people to keep decreasing the study time. This would still fit the exploration and discovery principles of Fractured while potentially increasing social interaction and economic opportunities (charging someone to show them a skill).

    • RE: The Tides of PVP

@jetah What would buffs/debuffs have to do with demons choosing to leave or stay? If you're talking about an attrition system for demons, that's what I meant about their teleportation method. It wouldn't be because they're evil.

    • RE: The Tides of PVP

@Roccandil I read the Tyros exception as only applying to the karma loss debuff that humans get for visiting Tartaros. It's unclear if that applies to beastmen and their stat debuff.

@jetah Beastmen of any alignment don't suffer debuffs while on Syndesia, they just don't have their Arboreus buffs. I don't think demons suffer any debuffs either, unless their method of teleportation applies them. Syndesia is supposed to be the middle ground where anyone of any alignment is on even footing.

@thwunk The weekly drawings have been happening for 11 months and I've been drawn 13 times, and from my observation, people who have been around as long have won a similar amount. It seems that you have around 25% chance to win any given week that you meet the contribution requirement. There's also the ambassador drawing which has so little competition that you're basically guaranteed to win.

      @eurav said in Weapon upgrading:

You can´t upgrade your equipment, but there are two ways to enhance it. I think it was enchanting with a scroll and sockeling a gem or something? All three (the part of the equipment, the scroll, the gem) of those need to be crafted.

As far as I know enchanting is the only way to "upgrade" your gear, and the scrolls and gems you mention are just different ways to enchant (there are also spells). We don't know if the different ways to enchant stack.
