I'd love to see some plate enemies wearing cloth and has a staff transmog instead of a 2h weapon. I'd file it under the 'it's magic that makes their armor look like cloth' it could be a perception skill check or have a skill that can pierce through the deception.

I think that's something that should fall under illusion magic. Cloaking/deceptively changing the look of your gear could be fun, but I think it would get a little out of hand if anyone could do it all the time.

I'm fine with it as long as it's still possible to tell what kind of armor someone is wearing.

So, no one else can write and you tweak? No one else can can do most of the writing and you modify it as needed then publish it?

This early on, everyone else on the team is probably busy developing the game, and there's no point hiring a community manager for a game this early in development, before they've even acquired funding (hence the "after kickstarter"). As CEO he's likely the only person with flexible enough duties to get it done, but he's still been too busy.

@jetah Players could have limited immunity. For example, a spell that gives you a fire shield that completely absorbs up to X amount of fire damage before it dissipates. Or a short skill that makes you immune to physical strikes for X amount of hits. There's a lot that can be done with some creativity.

I think people are thinking too strictly in terms of older mmo combat mechanics when fractured seems to be aiming for more moba style action combat where aiming, timing, and physically dodging skills are going to be more important than just "adding 15% more resistance".

    • RE: Talent Tree, Armor, and Stats

From the sounds of it gear won't have a major impact so I doubt you can so easily patch up holes in your build with gear. And if anything this system sounds like it encourages min-maxing more than it discourages it. If I get penalized for adding dex to my strength build, then I'm just going to add more strength or constitution. It penalizes for building characters a certain way, encouraging more homogeneous builds.

@muker said in Talent Tree, Armor, and Stats:

If I'm not mistaken, the developers wrote that if you play a lot, you can pump everything. So how do you want to make these debuffs then?

You get a limited amount of talent points that you can respec when you rest.

"the natural elements around you can always be exploited to defeat your enemies, even when all hope seems lost. "

From the descriptions of combat, it seems like even if monsters do have immunities, there will probably still be ways to deal with them that won't involve a full respec.

Say a monster with a shell is immune to physical damage and you're a high strength warrior. Maybe you can roll a boulder into it to shatter it's shell so you can deal damage. That's sorta the image I have of what Fractured is aiming for, and I'm hoping it can deliver.

@finland 4-6k sounds pretty healthy for a b2p indie game. I've played far "deader" games than that. I'd be surprised if Dynamight are aiming much higher.

On topic: The sandboxy three worlds with different rulesets is what drew me in. I'm curious to see how it plays out. And the combat sounds pretty dope.

@muker The premise of the skill system is that you only have a limited number of skills at any given time. If you could use scrolls to get around that, what would be the point of limiting skills?
