    • RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?

I found this from SpatialOS website:

      "good fit for my project?

      For Any Multiplayer Game
SpatialOS is for any game where players interact in real time, including session-based games (i.e. games where matches begin and end during one play session) and persistent worlds. Instances of these games work for any number of players in a single instance; from 2 to 10000’s"

if bots take 2x more resources than a human client and the server can support 500 bots then it can support 1000 players.

without servers/realms i fully expect some type of instancing to load balance the population.

If bots would be the solution then MMOs would not have performance problems and they would not need player made stress tests, but they still have both. With bots, I can imagine how you can create some kind of testing environment to stress the server itself. What you can not get with bots is still the real situation where players are all over the world connected from different starting points with different devices and different connections. So games will still need the real user point of views. So it is really important to gather individual player experiences and precise feedbacks, which can not be replaced by using bots. So it does not matter how much resources one bot can take. In addition, I would not give exact resource capacity (x2 human client) to one bot. Bots can scale what it comes to their performances, resources and contents.

Wether or not the guards are going to attack you depends on the city. The Governor can set who the guards attack on sight / who they donΒ΄t attack, so you can expect to be unable to enter some cities, but be able to enter others while being tagged as Thief / Murderer.

I could not find information about this, but I presume it is related to this:

"Giving orders to the town’s militia (for defense and patrolling purposes)"

Interesting feature and I personally really like, that guards can be given different orders and patrol tasks.

    • RE: Race/class customization

The profile you made is linked for foundation program and forums, and yes, you can as a demon join only to demon guilds. How this will be in game is still a little bit open. But no worries, you can edit your current profile anytime so you can join any guild you want.

There is basically 3 planets in Fracured. So every races (demon, human, beastman) has own home planet with own rules to cater different players and playstyles. You can travel to other planets as well, but in most cases just temporarily. So the planets are divided in this way:

      • Beastmen - Planet Arboreus - Targeted to PvE centric players. In this planet happens very little PvP and in most parts it will be totally restricted.

      • Human - Planet Syndesia - Targeted to PvX centric players who likes both PvE and PvP, and are ready to live with Lawfull PvP with restrictive PvP rules. Basically your hostile action against lawful players will have consequences.

      • Demon - Planet Tartaros - Targeted to hardcore minded PvP players. There is no restrictions for PvP and everyone is free for all.

So basically three planets, three playstyles. You can read more from news section. I suggest to read at least those Feature Spotlight series to get more information.

      Here is more about Races

      Here is more about Planets

      Here is more about PvP

You will be locked with your race which might set some limitations in practise, especially what it comes to "class" choises. Fractured actually has classless system so we can see a lot of different kind of combinations of healer, support, damage, and tank.

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

I have seen both moving options in isometric games, but what it comes to similar games as Fractured or which have quite similar combat system, then click moving just feels more fluid option. Generally WASD moving is too angular in isometric games, but way better in games where you can change camera angle.

I personally support devs choise here. This click to move works really well and smooth in Albion Online and I am sure it will in Fractured too. And I do not personally want to see people moving with 45 or 90 degree angles. Moving will also effect to combat why it is better go just with one option.

    • RE: traveling caravans/merchants or just a way to haul mass amounts of stuff

@Kansei I have understood that caravans would be a thing at least some way. Inventory spaces will be kind of limited and players can carry just some items with basic mounts. I presume there will be playercrafted wagons, which can be used for transporting larger amount of goods. Selling right stuff in right towns and cities will hopefully and most likely be a thing.

Transporting goods in Syndesia and especially in Tartaros can be dangerous and risky business. Of course I can see caravans as guild activity where members are escorting caravans through dangerous areas. Maybe even hiring player mercenaries or NPC guards could be a thing.

If you were thinking a caravan mechanic, like in Ashes of Creations, I am not sure will there be one.

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

When moving is with mouse, it leaves easier access to use abilities from keyboard. For example Q, W, E, R, T, Y, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Trying to use abilities with WASD is harder.

DS is also small studio and working with two different control systems would not be reasonable. What I have understood it is not a simple task to implement WASD controls for isometric games and it will take time, and on top of that they need to balance that with click to move.

What valueable WASD moving systems brings on table what current click to move can not already handle?

The point I was trying to get across is that it's a lot more beneficial to skip additional stretch goals and instead use all the additional money on making sure that the minimal viable product gets out in time. That is a tricky enough task.

Yeah kind of if you get same amount of money without stretch goals. I understand your point, but idea of stretch goals is to get people invest more so.. Maybe it can go either way.

    • RE: An option to NOT choose a deity?

At least we know this much under here. I was wondering what that bestowed a Divine Blessing keeps inside?

      "TEMPLE OFFERINGS
A Temple Offering is a monetary donation that can be performed once a day in the home of one of the Gods of Fractured.

Temple offerings are an effective – albeit expensive – way to change your Karma towards that of the God you’re donating to. Offerings given to Elysium, Tyros and Nelena have a positive effect on your Karma, while money pledged to the dreadful Babilis cause a heavy Karma loss. Donations to Neutral Gods such as Iridia and Galvanos instead have no impact on your moral stance.

Other than (possibly) changing your Karma, a Temple Offering increases the favor of the God towards you. If high enough, you might even get bestowed a Divine Blessing, or assigned a Divine Quest to carry out!

      DIVINE QUESTS
Divine Quests are missions obtained at shrines and temples that must be completed by anyone who wishes to become the Champion of a God. Fulfilling them triggers changes to your Karma, pushing it towards the Alignment of the God in question.

By becoming the Champion of a God, you are granted a unique blessing in the form of a permanent status effect, plus the chance to use one or more Divine Abilities that don’t have to be memorized. The number and power of said abilities depend on the deity’s favor towards you and how well your current Karma matches the God’s one."

It's stretch goals that inspire people to pay more to reach the goal.

I agree, that stretch goals has their own role to lure people to fund more. Not just to get new players, but also to get backers to upgrade their packages'.

We could put it this way, if stretch goals would be useless, why to use those at first place? πŸ˜‰

      @Gothix That is true.

This also opens up good players possibility to exploit system and make neutral players flagged as aggressive, when just running in AoE effect (made by neutral player) for example, and after that good players can attack neutral ones without consequences (karma loss/flagged murderer).

@Sindariya Well I can not decide when I die so it is kind of hard to think all before hand.. πŸ˜‰ Also if people can not store stuff outside of home and guild bank, it will make all activities far from home really annoying. You can basically play mostly in your own hoods.. That sounds kind of bad. I really need an answer from DS side. @Specter πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Also @Tuoni please don't try to bring too much science into my game. I find it ironic when folks talk about 'not being scientific' or 'realistic' in my fantasy game πŸ˜‰

Well there is a huge difference between fantasy and non-sense genre. Fantasy does not mean everything unnatural or supernatural can be explained by magic, fantasy still have rules to be fantasy and especially believable. πŸ˜‰

EDIT: This case is of course not so black and white (fantasy and nonsense) what I wrote at first place. There is differencies and a lot of levels between those two.

pay, not sell. I tried to edit the post above, but it always told me, some spam filter will prevent it πŸ€”

I hope that mobs and animals does not drop any vendor trash, which are meant to sell just like that. All loot should be meaningful, either money (from humanoids) and/or resources used for different crafting.

I personally hope, that consumables like food and drink are also player crafted and we can not buy those from NPCs. Those can easily be part of cooking.

Tartaros is smaller than the other two. so it'll be much faster to explore.

The size of the planets are different, but the description of each planet implies that they should all have the same amount of playable area.

This is right if Feature Spotlight #2 is still up to date.

"Arboreus is the largest planet of the Elysium Ring, with a surface twice as wide as that of Syndesia – although the area of continents above sea level is roughly equivalent to that of the other planets."

    • RE: Guilds planets and races

@B3CK3R said in Guilds planets and races:

      • Will be a possibility of humans, demons and beastmen be on the sabe guild? or even play as a party? What are the implications for this to happen?

I think they have planned that guilds are somehow race and/or alignment locked.. However, imo, that will be very complicated to get work right. Usually in MMORPGs playstyles between guild members can vary from extreme to another. In addition.. What about alts? What about gaming communities outside of Fractured? Karma can change? So I see here lots of factors that needs to be thought well before making any final decisions.

      • How locked are the races to the playstyles? Could i create a beastman character but later on decide to join a pvp focused guid to raid and conquer cities?

Yes you can, but when living as Beastman in Syndesia (Human planet) you can not use your special racial abilities. In Tartaros (Demon planet) it will be even harder. You can not stay long and you will get quite heavy debuffs. There is way to turn permanent evil (Abomination) by collecting enough negative karma and doing some special divine quests for evil goddess Babilis. Then you will have better access to PvP as beastman. If you want more free choise for playstyle, then human is the best choise.

      • How are rescources distribuited arround the planets? More intense pvp planets will have an high risk high reward resoursce system? (mostly like albion online where black zones have high tier resources)

Every planet has own resources, some are same as in other planets, but some are totally unique. That way planets will be dependent of each other. If I remember right, Syndesia has most different kind of resources and is kind of central planet what it comes for raw materials. So the system is not like in Albion. DS developers wanted especially get out of that mentality and focus to do equal content for every playstyle and not cater only hardcore PvP players.
