    • RE: Stretch Goals

      @Savitr said in Stretch Goals:

      The reason this becomes a topic of ongoing discussion isn’t a way to increase feature creep.. ..It’s so that people who can afford ongoing funding can realistically provide that funding.. ..I think it’s not only a question of stretch goals but also ongoing funding. So I appreciate the ongoing efforts to talk about possibilities.

      These are really good points. Idea of stretch goals is not just add additional features, it is also about secure implementation of important features and collect generally more funds.

      @Farlander said in Multi-account:

      Was doing some searching for some topics and found this one. I know it is quite old but still an issue for me. I run more than one computer in my game room from which myself, my wife and my son game from. I'm not savvy on networking as I should be but does this mean that we are not going to be able to play together?

      If you all have own accounts and you are playing from different computers, then there should not be any problems to play together at the same time. It is quite basic stuff, that people plays in same local network with same IP-address.

      EDIT: So most likely you will be fine. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: New Race Idea

      No generic fantasy races like elfs, dwarfs or orcs thank you. And especially if those are not part of the lore, it would just feel contrived solution to add these races in Fractured. I like how Fractured has fresh races like demons, beastmen, abominations, angels and liches. If we will see new races in future, I hope DS continues the line they have chose to take already.

      (...)I bet SBI did not have enough (...) resources to handle so massive start(...)

      That should (in theory) be a massive advantage of SpatialOS. Where other companies have fixed amount of hardware, Fractured is highly scalable (in theory).

      Yeah I have understood the same. At least SpatialOS has promised that their servers and systems will hold a massive amount of players at the same time. That would be awesome, but I will truely believe after I have actually saw it myself. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Marketing as important part of early development

      @Xzoviac said in Marketing as important part of early development:

      @Tuoni I think streaming on twitch and youtube videos , and getting some of the more popular mmo youtubers to review fractured (invite them to the alpha to test) would bring in lots of attention, i will post some of the youtubers I watch, I don't really watch twitch- so cant help with streamers

      Rhykker - I watch this guy for info on Arpgs mostly diablo 3 builds, 480,275 subscribers
      https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRl31PWkfF0a3j3hiDRaCGA

      TheLazyPeon - I find this guy funny and I like watching his MMO reviews, 459,466 subscribers
      https://www.youtube.com/user/ALazyPeon

      MMOhut- does live streams with developers and is pretty informative good collection of mmos and a website they could advertise fractured on, 432,473 subscribers
      https://www.youtube.com/user/MMOHut

      if Fractured invite these 3 people that's a potential of 1.5million more people seeing the game just on subscribers , a free alpha account to get them to advertise for you would be worth it IMO

      Yes it is important to get famous YouTubers interested of Fractured and at least make that one review. That one video can only reach about half million players so it is definitely worth it. Of course if some of them interests to start playing more regulary, that would be even better. It is reasonable to make a review when there is enough working content, and lets see if this will be in A2,B1 or B2.

      I follow LazyPeon too and I really hope he will check out Fractured at some point, and I do not actually see why he would not. Btw, you could post your Youtuber suggestions here if you have not done that yet. πŸ˜‰ Community call youtubers

    • RE: Hey guys, just trying to get an idea on this game

      @Medic said in Hey guys, just trying to get an idea on this game:

      I play Albion Online rather a lot, so obviously this game peaked my interest. Is this game similar in many ways or am i looking at it all wrong?

      Many thanks.

      Both are full loot sandbox MMORPGs with player-driven economy and moba styled combat. So yes the starting point is very similiar, but there is a good amount of differencies too with the content itself. Character progression is totally different, Albion's vertical versus Fractured horizontal. Fractured caters equally casual, hardcore, PvE and PvP players with three planet system. I have understood that GvGs are not just restricted for 5v5 and we are going to see larger battles around towns and other objects. These were few main points what came up my mind.

      @Kralith I am not actually against swimming, but I would more like to see rivers and lakes separating areas from each other and creating bottle necks for combat situations for example. If swimming will be implemented, I still hope there will be points, which are too deep or there is too strong current for swimming.

    • RE: Progressionsystems

      @Farlander said in Progressionsystems:

      Concerning equipment and loot drops, I've played a game where everything in the world was player crafted. That sounds cool but in reality isn't much fun. I like killing npcs with the hope of finding something cool. I don't care if it just alters your look. I'm assuming mobs are only going to drop resources and currency.

      I personally like more games where everything is player crafted. However, I know that to some people this will feel too dull. At least developers can enliven the loot tables with rare drops, vanity items and uncommon resources.

      SBI developers created a mechanic, which added items to loot tables on open world even those were all player crafted. This system was called The Black Market to whom players could sell items they crafted. That TBM was not a dumpster and it was build around buy and sell order features. Items you could get from mobs were not random and those also made mainly sense. This mechanic is also a good item sink, because it destroys a portion of sold items in the process. Something like this could be copied and develop even further. Here is the link:

    • RE: Requisite for casting magic

      @Gothix said in Requisite for casting magic:

      I can see devs implementing "small cooldown" on weapon switching, so players could just use keybinding to switch weapon all the time and cast everything in succession and hit the target as well.

      Realistically, having certain spells "require certain weapon equipped" makes no sense if weapons can be switches in combat and without a CD.

      You are right, weapon swapping can be pointless if abilities won't change as well. There could be profile system where players can save pre-made builds inclueding gear and abilities. Changing profile should have cooldown or happen only when out combat. I personally see pre-made profiles almost mandatory or at least as a huge QoL thing. Swapping between builds and abilities without any assistance from system behalf will be slow and can be a nightmare especially in situations when you are at hurry.

      @Znirf said in When will shop items become available ?:

      The bought items will become permanently bonded to your account, as you noticed all of them are pets or cosmetics things, so there is no need for a later refund. πŸ™‚

      You might wanna recheck that info πŸ˜‰ because in all MMOs I've seen people test cash shop by buying lots of stuff they don't even need, just to see if it works. They are then later refunded on release (stuff taken away of course), so they can buy only what they actually need. πŸ™‚

      I agree. It would be better to wipe also all those bought items from cash shop after all test phases. Otherwise people will save all or most of the purchases for release. Albion Online for example wiped everything and refunded the gold after every server wipe.

      @Xzoviac And on top of that portion of the items will be removed from the game in full loot process. Also salvage system would be good way to get items away from the game.

      The more you can do with "ingame" earned money, the more cheating and bots you will see.

      This is a good point. Making the game less attractive from cheaters and gold sellers point of view makes things much more easier at first place. It is ofc hard to get totally rid of these guys, but developers can make their life easier with gamedesign. Imo DS has designed well this part and there is not going to be same kind of problems what SBI had, not even close.

      Create a closed economy where it is not possible to transfer ingame money between characters will cut down on that.

      Hmmmm... This would help for sure, but it would also make trading kind of mess.

      If you see someone that's hurt and needs your help, but you know if you help and heal him, he will go around and kill more people because he is a killer, and you chose to help and heal him, enabling him to kill more in the process...

      Are you good or bad?

      In real life and in situation like this you first call help, explain the situation and listen introductions given from PSAP (public safety answering point). That way you help the hurt person and most likely prevent anything more to happen. Question is also quite vague and there can be a lot of different kind of scenarios which impacts to decisions made by the helper.

      In Fractured this is easy, because of the alignment and flagging system. These makes it relatively easy to make decisions. If good alignment character sees evil person in trouble and you decide not to help, you are still good. Even if you decide to kill that evil person, you are still good and in best situation maybe even rewarded doing so.

      currently-held items (which includes gold pieces) drops to the corpse

      btw. i like idea of coins as items, not just only number on paperdoll

      I would actually like not to see ingame currency as an item. I do not see any pros in that kind of system. Mostly it just leads that people wont carry any money with them (in syndesia and especially in Tartaros), which will have negative impacts for trading and that way to whole economy. However, I have no idea what DS has planned.. πŸ€”
