Your suggestion is good and we should absolutely have hidden treasures, but it's such a minor thing it shouldn't have its own profession. I think everyone who has enough PER should be able to see them, and in the case of chests, everyone with enough lockpicking should be able to open them.

Yeah perhaps. If we are talking about only finding treasures and not having anything extra on that then I agree it might be too much make that its own profession. However, if something more is implemented around the archaeologist theme and a reasonable progression system can be build around that, then I guess it could be its own profession too.

I actually prefer subcription model IF that guarantees totally equal gaming experience without any kind of P2W or P2Advantage stuff.

But what DS has planned so far, I am fine with that too.

@Kralith BTW that logo reminds me a lot of the secret society Illuminati, therefore, perhaps devs have taken some influence from there... 🤔

If there are Abilities as counters ( If im fire specced mage Id like some kind of ability to reduce resists or totally remove it at least for a moment ) Im fine with it.

Something like that I had in my mind, resistances can be countered and balanced with abilities and enchants.

Of course soft and hard caps are one option if it looks like people will have too much resistances stacked, however, in that situation we could questioned if there is too much possibilities to stack resistances from the beginning. Usually fixing the root cause is the better option rather than trying to implement bandages.

@Pluto so you think people want 2 subs? Imo that wouldnt work and would make the company look greedy

No. I think you will notice that I mentioned a true sub model is not possible at this time. It would have had to be a discussion before any packs were ever sold

A true sub model involves a monthly subscription to pay for the base game and all updates. There is no VIP, no convenience items, but there could still be cosmetics

But they could make the vip almost mandatory like eso does with the infinite crafting bag.

Not that I'm suggesting they do it's would be fairly scummy

Albion Online has also this monthly premium package, which is kind of "optional" subscription. In practise the benefits are almost mandatory if you do not want to grind your ass off for example. For some people the premium costs are not a problem, because you can buy that also with ingame currency. Still quite shady system imo.

For example we would know if there is any "summoner" class, rougue, assasin, tank or necro or any other. Of course this is not consistent without skill list available and items as well but for me that would help ALOT to survive waiting time.

We do not know the precise skills but we know the planned schools of magic and fighting.

      • Summoner = Conjuration
      • Rogue = Assasination
      • Tank = Warfare
      • Necro = Necromancy

More about different schools can be found from here: Feature Spotligh #4

      @Farlander

Not many MMOs can get by with just B2P and cosmetics. (I do not count BRs as MMOs)

I presume you still refer to AoC with this... I do not try to protect Intrepid Studios' actions and their Apocalypse project, and actually I am quite disapointed and mad about it. Anyway, those who have bought and still buys the cosmetics are mainly MMO players. Some of them takes Apocalypse purely as a testing ground and some hopes, that they will get some day the MMO product what they backed at first place. People also buys these cosmetics, because they can bring all what they have purchased to the MMO version too. Yeah I have to admit, that those cosmetics looks pretty good, even not so much of my taste, but I really understand if people like those. So my point is, that even the MMO version of Ashes is at A0 stage and the BR version launched as early access, still the cosmetics are mainly sold for MMO and not for the pure BR players. This is why AoC is a valid example how good cosmetics can sell, and if there would be the MMO game released already, those cosmetics would sell multiple times more.

    • RE: Camping?

I also presume that a player house will be a safe zone, perhaps even the whole yard if things are getting too nasty. Even people cannot get in other players' houses (unless you have access granted) they can camp outside the door and basically lock you in. If this is possible it means that it will happen.

@FrostyWimbly said in Optimistic, but Hesitant:

So this game looks like it has so much potential. It can either be one of the greatest MMOs in history, or it can absolutely flop like so many other "revolutionary" games have in recent years. The concept is solid, but the problem and challenge will be execution. I'm thinking this game could be fantastic, but I'm intrigued by how everything will be set up in terms of items and resources. This is a game that I plan to keep my eye on, but with a mindful feeling of doubt about its construction. I just hope my optimism isn't wasted.

What do you all think about where this could go?

I do not blame anyone to be hesitant when we are talking about pledging a game in early development. I blame the industry and especially those failed projects, which have made people more careful.

If I think of Fractured, as long as we can actually see the progression, regardless of few short delays, I am not concerned myself. DS just announced the start date for Alpha 2, which is a noticeable step forward in progression. My advice for people is, that jump in when you feel comfortable. No matter is it in Alpha, beta or live, just remember to keep eye on Fractured. 😉

@Houngar Leaving the camping problem for players to care of is not a real solution. If there will be even a small loophole it will be abused. That is pretty standard behaviour in sandbox games, unfortunately.

    • RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects

I would say warrior and rogue types needs abilities as well which benefit from the environment like the mages' skills do. They should not be left out of this feature, no matter are we examining this from appealing or balancing point of view.

Rogues and hunters could benefit at least from flora so they can hide, camouflaged, stealth in the bushes and ambush from there much more effectively than in the open ground, that would actually make sense as well. Heavier melee classes could benefit from the open ground or utilize earth element and rocky environment for extra CCs and protection.

    • RE: How should shields work? WoW vs. Vermintide style

I would like to see abilities which needs a shield to use, like we have abilities for specific weapons. Abilities can be different kind of self and group protections, protective buffs and maybe have some semi-offensive options as well, like shield bash or shield charge for example.

    • RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects

@asspirin I did not say it cannot be compared, I said it cannot be directly compared. Therefore, Albion is comparable, as well as ESO, both as applicable. I have seen heavy armor caster builds in Albion especially with Cursed, Frost and Arcane staffs, not just random stuff but also as part of the meta. Anyway, I do not think that no one is demanding that many casters should or need to use plate armor, it is enough if some will do and there is that opportunity.

Yes we have a full "freedom". Unfortunately that is an illusion of freedom because attribute point distribution and race will determine our role in practice. Therefore, these character creation choices will lead us to use specific abilities, talents and gear. Character creation is basically in contradiction with the other systems. Even we have in theory a "full freedom", that is not the case in practice. Current character creation spoils imo the potential of abilities, talents, gear and the idea of a real full freedom system.

Oh my god... The dailies or general repetitive daily and weekly activities are something I have really learned to hate, mainly thanks for WoW. No game should design the content over repeatable quests and activities to ensure players to login. This can work at start but will definitely lead to boredom sooner or later. And this argument is based on 70 exalted faction reputation experience. 🤢

If a game is well designed in general and it offers different kind interesting things to do and meaningful goals to achieve, those will be enough to get players to login daily basis.

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

I would suggest that staffs could work same way as bows. Perhaps you need to craft or buy 'charges' to your staff (like runes in RuneScape) which basically works like arrows. Staffs could make less damage, but still offering mages something to do while downtime or when oomed.

If developers are not going to focus implement quests in general (excluding the religion/alignment based ones) why on earth they would even consider adding something so bad as daily quests? 😉

Because it vastly improves daily logins.

At first it perhaps does but within time it starts to irritate and bore people and have a negative impact. Daily quest are also totally against the nature of sandbox why it would be odd to see those in Fractured. Daily quest are a perfect example of hand holding and how players are pushed to do certain content chosen by the developers.

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

@Razvan True. In addition, I presume melee fighters will have AoE ability options as well and perhaps the dagger users can have something, like fan of knives in WoW (throwing knives all around the user), even their main thing would be in single target combat.

I would not be personally worried about ranged damage dealers, I am actually more concerned about melee damage dealers and how they will perform in ZvZ fights. There are few things which might cause some serious balance issues between melee and ranged, friendly fire and player collision. Ranged damage dealers needs to worry about these factors much less than melee, and therefore, I am really keen to know how the developers will handle this matter.

Just an FYI, there are no plans at the moment to implement any kind of daily content. (daily quests, daily login bonuses, etc). You're fine to discuss it of course, but if you're against dailies, you have nothing to worry about right now. 🙂

Oh thank god... or Dynymight devs. 😉

However, I would actually be surprised if there would be any.
