    • RE: The Potential City Problem.

@Gothix said in The Potential City Problem.:

Having PvP ability is not only about being able to PvP when you want.

The major part is the danger that is always present. It creates completely different atmophsfere while playing. Even when you do not aim to PvP, you still need to watch what you are doing.

Even if you don't meet anyone at all for a good period of time, just the possibility that you could and that it might be dangerous, is what makes all the difference.

That is actually what most of the players hate (or do not like that much) and why hardcore PvP games are a niche. I personally like more consensual PvP rather than playing in constant fear - stress - excitement - what ever athmosphere, therefore, that is why I will play mainly on Syndesia rather in Tartaros. I guess I represent the middle ground here and I am happy that Fractured offers three different playgrounds for different player types. Of course you can be ganked on Syndesia as well, but most likely much more rare, or at least that is where the restrictions aims for.

Even I am maybe going to benefit from this discount, I kind of agree with @Pluto . Those who pledge earlier should be in better position not worse. This kind of behaviour from developers behalf signals, that why buy the game today if I can wait and buy it later cheaper? πŸ€”

    • RE: End-Game content

@Gofrit I know Fractured goals to be game with less grind and with horizontal character progression. That makes its easier to new players hop in straight in action and be at least somehow competitive against veteran players. Even so, players needs some goals, something to achieve, because they should not get everything straight away or they get bored very quickly. Some games' end-game is in raiding and others its in territory wars for example. And because Fractured's design will be something different, I am also courious, what there is to goal for? Can it be somehow related to knowledge system? Can that unlock new possibilities?

To me end-game content means activities what I can not do from day one. Something great and big to achieve. Something where I need to put some effort and work hard to get there. Content which still challenges me after months of playing. I actually like the concept of less grind and horizontal character progression. That is why I am interested to know, what is the catch what keeps players going?

    • RE: Funding

@Prometheus I agree that lifting NDA and start of Alpha 1 will help with marketing a lot. However, I suggest Dynamight Studious on top of that to be more active with own videos and upload those in your youtube and Twitch channels more often. Releasing official content information is something players are really interested with and that will also give you more followers and that way more backers. Not every video needs to be long with massive content, you could introduce just one feature at the time, and that way keep community and followers keen to your product. πŸ˜‰

@Farlander said in Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!:

@Pluto It is common practice for purchase prices of games to go down though. You did get into alpha 1 while those new guys coming around won't get in until alpha 2. They missed an alpha phase if it helps you justifying their lower cost. Their cost is roughly 10-20% lower? I don't even buy games on Steam unless they start hitting the 50% or higher from my wishlist. That's when I felt I have gotten a deal lol.

Discounts are common with final products and even then after the game has been on markets for a while or another expansion has been released already.

Early fundings are more important for companies than money what comes later, because those can make your project possible and secure the early development. Those early investors are more valueable than those who jumps later on board and not vice versa. That is why putting early funders in worse position is more like a slap on the face and bad way to say thank you.

Yeah some people had priviledge to play the game few days with couple of unfinished features.. that surely warms their heart. πŸ˜–

I am most suprised, that people who have been slapped on the face are actually protecting this kind of act.. 🀦

@Eurav said in Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!:

..having to pay more on something because I bought it earlier while not having any advantage of having it earlier? WTF?

You paid more for the exact same thing (you donΒ΄t gain anything for having it earlier) just because you pledged between Early Bird and this sale. Just seems like a "punishment" for people who did pledge in that timeframe..

Exactly! This does not make much sense.

    • RE: Will Fractured upgrade on what Albion Online did

I played Albion Online about two years and more when it was still in beta stage. Albion was actually much better game in beta and the last minute major content updates just before launch ruined the game in my opinnion. There was no time to test these changes proberly and results were really bad. Game was partly unplayable for long time and started only getting better after lots of people was already left. Huge part from sandbox was taken off when devs decided to make one major central hub city. That destroyed local living and economies and made the world feel small and other cities fell in bad position with low population. Performance issues were huge, because most of the playerbase was centralized to one city.. my god those decisions were baaad. What it comes to Albion's p2w part, its kind of argued matter, but they are at least sailing somewhere in grey area. You can buy ingame currency with real money and with ingame money you can buy everything.. Its really bad system imho and on top of that lures a lots of gold sellers. Gold sellers managed to even break big guilds and ruin lots of players gaming experiences. I dont even remember all issues what I faced, but the list was quite long. That game had a lot of potential, but finding own identity and bad decisions ruined the game in most parts. Shame actually.. I really hope Dynamight Studios is smart and does not make same kind of bad choises What Sandbox Interactive did.

    • RE: Guild Attire Rewards

Adding some kind of guild progression and reward system has its place for sure, but its important to keep rewards more like cosmetics rather than give gameplay advantages.

I dont see any problem to different achievements to give different rewards. That would give guilds acknowledgement of things that mirror their indentity and gameplay. That is only fair. On top of that there can be some general achievements and rewards where guilds can collect experience from different activities.

Guild logo is important thing to identify guilds' indentity. This logo can then be used in tabards, flags, shields, caparisons and such. That is why I hope Fractured will offer us good tools for this feature. There should be basic tool set for every guild, and guilds can wider this set with accomplishments. One option is also to offer totally unique tools for most dedicated guilds, which will help Dynymight Studious to create a better game with solid pre-launch testing and constructive feedback.

@WhoAteTheCat well I'm still trying to choose between beastmen and humans for my hero profile. I don't really understand the benefits and drawbacks of beastmen staying in Syndesia.

If I remember right, Beastmen are welcome to Syndesia as long as they want to and they do not get any debuffs, however, their special powers will only work in Arboreus. If I remember this wrong or this has changed I hope someone will correct me. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, I am sure that beastmen are most powerfull when they are in their own home planet, like every races do.

@Roccandil said in New World Sucks + Fractured Makes a Guest Appearance!:

New World currently has two fundamental mechanics I'm looking forward to seeing develop:

      • Opt-in PvP (PvP will be more mission-oriented)
      • A dynamic PvE world (the Corruption will keep spreading if everyone ignores it)

I'm also interested in seeing how those two mechanics are balanced against each other. The Corruption could be strong enough, for instance, to unite everyone against it, making PvP more of a sideshow.

Me too, that settlement upgrade system sounds pretty interesting as well.

@Rugrat said in New World Sucks + Fractured Makes a Guest Appearance!:

Im on the fence untill I play it πŸ˜„

Same here. However, that beta test phase will show us the state of the game (when NDA is lifted) and I will make my purchase decision based on those public videos and reviews.

forget about it already its dead. zeds dead baby z dead

That is actually why we should not forget it. I see its important to rise up all points where Albion possible went wrong. Maybe that could help Dynamight to not make same mistakes. πŸ˜‰

Those who are generally interested of professions, could go visit in this thread: Profession Matrix

I have collected there a good amount of ideas related to all possible profession, and I want to fill my list with suggestions from other players. I already noted milk, eggs and wool from original post here. I have added those to farming section, but I have not upload that new version yet. I will still wait some comments before doing that.

What it comes to New World I will personally focus to examine the game itself and not the community drama. If the game is good I do not care if the Community Manager is unprofessional or how the developers handle their feedback processes in general. Sometimes it is nice to be part of the community but sometimes it is liberating just to focus enjoy the game and ignore all the hustle and bustle happening on the background. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Will there be fast traveling?

What it comes to fast travel options, I hope we will see more carriages and harbours with ship routes rather than portals. Makes the world more believeable that way. Portals are of course fine when traveling between planets, but somehow stupid and easy solutions when speaking traveling inside continent.

I would also leave faster travelling options out from convenience matter. Simply because fast/faster traveling can give advantage almost for everything e.g. PvP, character progression, gathering, economics.. It would be closer P2W rather than convenience.

@maze said in New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?:

n MMO, in the idea of needing to have a group to do things. not having a group meant you were unable to get to high tier or kill hard mobs.

Just as it should be! MMOs should NOT BE SOLO GAMES! totally agree. here here! πŸ™‚

Highly disagreed. Many players plays MMOs at least partly as a solo and some of the players most of the time. A lot of activities are solo oriented anyway, especially professions and lifeskills. People are still interacting with other players even they would not constantly group up. Therefore, MMO games should offer a good amount of solo content as well, even the hardest content needs group effort ofc.

    • RE: Siege and Siege-engines

Yes, there will be lots of ways to use different kind of contracts for defensing, escorting, transporting and fast traveling for example. There can be insurances as protection for contracts in cases something bad happens. Of course there can be backstabbing, but then you will be known of that kind of behaviour, so it comes with reputation cost on top of karma loss . Okay.. contracts would be own quite large topic so I guess I wont go any more further into it. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Weapon animations based on build

@Azraelius said in Weapon animations based on build:

@Tuoni I do think moving things are difficult, they did get moving cloaks and some stuff with path of exile, so also doable at some point... just a matter of priorities I guess. having the game release and be fun is no 1

It can be done for sure, but there is really some problematic points. I will use Albion online as an example. There is this weapon named morning star in the game and in beta it had a chain and ball, but still characters were wielding that like mace with stiff handle. Here is picture how it looked like:
      stiff chain

People complained about this a lot, but it was too troublesome task to make it actually moving chain so they changed the weapon so it had stiff handle like in this picture:
      New version

So they took a shortcut. From animation point of view, this was most likely smart decision, but it kind of affected to this weapon's special ability called root prison. It was clearly designed that the chain is rooting other people when spin around them, but now with stiff handle the ability won't make that much sense anymore. So I hope DS devs will take in account this kind of possible design issues when implementing weapons.

    • RE: New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?

@lyburnum @Buckykat If you want to base your opinion on rant and community drama then be my guest. 😁 If you think of that post in that video. It is not constructive critisism, it is a rant. If you name your feedback's topic "Lol New World is a Fucking Joke" you have already lost your chances to be believable and make the developers listen to you. That feedback could be great without all that aggression and negativity.

I suggest all those who are interested of New World to wait more information what we start to get after a month, when the beta test phase starts and NDA lifted.

    • RE: What is called human transform for Beastman?

I made some research, because this Lich matter bothers me. So I checked how Lich and alignments goes together in D&D settings from where this system has borrowed at first place. I found this:

      "Alignment
Depending on the method of becoming a lich, a lich can be of any alignment, retaining whatever alignment it had in life.
Liches are mostly evil but there are references to good liches.
The reasons for good beings to become liches are limited but most of them come down to unfulfilled quests in life, guardianship over ancient evil and the oversight of future generations.
The process for being a good lich is more difficult to discover and in many campaign settings does not exist at all. In general, the process of becoming a lich has very evil requirements possibly making it hard for good people to retain a good alignment."

So it seams that good and neutral liches are possible, if we examine D&D, but really rare. Okay this helps me to understand more devs idea, even to most people liches are only pure evil creatures. That is the way how I have seen those described in every other fantasy game, movie or literature. Still weird, but somehow acceptable.

      EDIT: Typo fantasy -》 literature
