      Here is some footage of knowledge system and how you unlock new abilities:

      "ABILITY LEARNING
      On Fractured, magical and combat abilities are discovered and learned through a unique process involving exploration, combat, gathering, crafting, and a little bit of waiting time (including offline time).
      "

      "STEP #1: DISCOVER & QUEST AROUND
      When you open your Character Abilities window for the first time, almost all the spells listed in each School are in an Unknown state.

      When an ability is Unknown, you character doesn’t know anything about it (surprising, eh), including its effect and what are the tasks required to unlock it – you’re only able to catch a glimpse of its icon. How to discover an ability? Just play the game! Travel, fight, gather, craft – whatever you fancy. As soon as you accidentally perform one of the tasks required to unlock an ability, it will switch to Discovered state.

      Once an ability is Discovered, you get to know everything about it: what it does, what’s the cost to use it, and – mostly importantly – what are the tasks that have to be performed to be able to start studying it. Some examples of such tasks are:

      Find, interact with, or kill specific creatures.
      Kill some specific creatures in a unique way.
      Find, collect or refine some amount of a specific resource.
      Consume X units of a specific item.
      Be hit X times by a specific spell.
      Perform a specific combat action X times.
      Explore one or more world locations.
      Rest in a specific location.
      Craft X units of a specific item.
      Die in a specific way.
      Ability learning tasks never require you to repeat the same action for hours. Instead, they’re designed encourage you to explore and travel – rewarding cleverness and bravery, not time spent grinding
      .

      All abilities have a total of 6 tasks associated to them, but it’s enough you complete 2 to turn the ability to Ready To Study – and that’s when the second part of the learning process begins."

      Is this really so, that the loot ain't locked to the killer at least short of time? I do not have knowledge how this will be in Fractured, but usually in MMOs there is some kind of timer..

      It's stretch goals that inspire people to pay more to reach the goal.

      I agree, that stretch goals has their own role to lure people to fund more. Not just to get new players, but also to get backers to upgrade their packages'.

      We could put it this way, if stretch goals would be useless, why to use those at first place? 😉

      Yeah kind of if you get same amount of money without stretch goals. I understand your point, but idea of stretch goals is to get people invest more so.. Maybe it can go either way.

      Feature Creep is a very real danger in software development. Try to release your minimal viable product in schedule and you can still add content afterwards.

      There is always risk for delay with every feature added afterwards, but it is not exactly our problem as players to calculate stretch goals profitability. That is devs job to plan goals which can be done with set income. 😉

      We can still get that taming, I personally hope and believe so. 😉 There should be new goals before current ones are reached. Goals are really good carrots and those should be planned so you can implement the thing what is promised, but still you get a little bit extra to somewhere else. Moreover, IF some delays would happen, does it really matter if there will be more interesting content? I do not personally mind at all.

      DS should introduce new stretch goals. Something different than just new labyrinth levels, which are kind of boring goals to achieve tbh. I suggest to think options which really appeals to people and makes them want to invest. 😉

      That could actually be quite standard in full loot games where people are constantly running naked after death or when they are fast traveling. At least in Albion this was a thing, but I was a little disapointed because colors were quite neutral grey/brown stuff. No red ones with <3. 😉

      I know I might now necro an old thread, but I need to leave my opinion on Friendly Fire topic. It seams that to some people Friendly Fire as concept means different things. Generally it means possibility to attack own party members. It can also contain guild and alliance members, all who goes under word friendly. So I would say hitting accidently random people in open world is something else.

      Friendly fire seams to be heavily argued matter also in Fractured and it actually divides opinions a lot in many games. Now in Fractured there is also alignments pulled to the same soup and I have to say this looks now as a mess. I am surprised if devs knows how FF will be implemented.

      Friendly Fire can be cool feature, but it brings a lot of issues with it. Some abilities will drop for minor use, this causes a lot of quarrel between players and encourages people for toxicity actions and griefing. So imho FF takes more than gives. Fortnite for example decided to drop this feature because it caused too much troubles and complaints. Fortnite is not from same genre, but FF can easily be even bigger problem in group based MMORPG game.

    • RE: traveling caravans/merchants or just a way to haul mass amounts of stuff

      @Kansei I have understood that caravans would be a thing at least some way. Inventory spaces will be kind of limited and players can carry just some items with basic mounts. I presume there will be playercrafted wagons, which can be used for transporting larger amount of goods. Selling right stuff in right towns and cities will hopefully and most likely be a thing.

      Transporting goods in Syndesia and especially in Tartaros can be dangerous and risky business. Of course I can see caravans as guild activity where members are escorting caravans through dangerous areas. Maybe even hiring player mercenaries or NPC guards could be a thing.

      If you were thinking a caravan mechanic, like in Ashes of Creations, I am not sure will there be one.
