@Logain hmmmm.. because you answered to Jetah's post where he was talking about someone creating a Discord channel, I presumed you are talking about same thing. Okay, because this was misunderstanding, we can forget that then. It seams you know more about this integration, so could you tell us a lil bit more about it? I am interested of this:

Does any other MMO game use Discord full integration? Succesfully? Full support/link between game?

@Tuoni did you just assume the liches alignment based on looks* hmph * shame on you

Not only. Like I wrote before: "That is the way how I have seen those described in every other fantasy game, movie or literature."

      @Crowdac said in Livestock:

@Tuoni I think killing livestock is going to be possible. You said something I hadn't thought about, in terms of livestock, which is, a thievery/ bounty system. The consequence for killing someone else's property would result in the perpetrator be marked as a thief, bounty on his/her head, lose karma.

Like I said before, I presume there can be some kind of thievery feature which is then bound to karma and criminal system. I can see this be a thing. Also, IF this will be possible, it should not be easy task or there should be possibility to protect your property.

However, what good the game would get if players can just go to other players farm and slaughter animals just for fun? None. Game should not encourage grieffing and not make any aspect of game (in this situation farming) so frustrating activity that no-one wants to do it anymore. That's why it is important to think possible thievery mechanic through very closely before implementing anything.

I don't personally mind if you can't steal stuff from other players property. I don't see enough value in thievery versus how much frustration it will cause.

On top of that. In game chats are used to interact with the game. You can use it as command line and you can link there in game stuff which can be used as shortcuts. So the game and chat are connected and linked to each other from very different ways. I am also positive, that DS wants to keep all chat logs and control of the chat by themselfs. They want players to follow their chatting rules and not let players to decide what is right and wrong. I am pretty sure they want to keep in game localization and control of local economies in their hands and give that power to people outside of the game. I am pretty sure I forgot something relevant, but maybe someone will cover me..

So @Logain, all this can be done easily via player driven Discord channel and on top of that with additional benefits?

Which could be handled with Discord as well. Just with additional benefits and ease of implementation.

And what are excatly the benefits? I see only problems..

What is the point leave chat to handle by outsiders? Not every player is using discord and especially all the time. Chat needs to be ingame, where you can get information in realtime on the same screen you are using for playing. Not something running background or need to use second screen/device.

    • RE: I suggest to continue the Foundation program

@Gothix said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:

when you look at it, the word "foundation" means the base. Something you start with.

@Meiki said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:

Well I personally think that the foundation should stick around until some later time, as it says it is a foundation, so until the game is done and ready for release, the game still has a base to build and putting some incentives for the players is actually a pretty good win-win situation for all.

I would say you are both right. Foundation can easily be defined either way. So imo the name itself won't be a problem as long as the pre-launch development is still going on.

Because the situation is going to change within upcoming Alphas and Betas, maybe some quests could be added and related for testing, feedback and suggestions. I would not forget content creators either, because in most cases they do very valueable job. Also positive acts for common good (e.g. community atmosphere ) is something that could be noticeable somehow.

    • RE: Questions about Guilds

I have one more thing to add here. What about ALTs? Characters are usually very different from each other or otherwise those have very little point to exist. Many people will have characters from different races and for different purposes. This will make the situation even more complicated if alts can not be in the same guild.

    • RE: Livestock

@Jrock Well now you presumed that people can kill your cattle just like that. It might be that you can't do that at all or it is at least a really hard task. I would guess that some kind of thievery system can be a thing, but then there is most likely mechanics which can protect your farm. I actually presume, that we are not going to see possibility to slaughter other players animals. What value that would bring to the game? Grieffing mechanic, nothing more.

@Meangroundhog Definitely something what Fractured needs. Possibility to find and catch animals and creatures (can also be pups), which can be tamed and raised for cattle, pets and mounts. 😉

    • RE: What is called human transform for Beastman?

I made some research, because this Lich matter bothers me. So I checked how Lich and alignments goes together in D&D settings from where this system has borrowed at first place. I found this:

      "Alignment
Depending on the method of becoming a lich, a lich can be of any alignment, retaining whatever alignment it had in life.
Liches are mostly evil but there are references to good liches.
The reasons for good beings to become liches are limited but most of them come down to unfulfilled quests in life, guardianship over ancient evil and the oversight of future generations.
The process for being a good lich is more difficult to discover and in many campaign settings does not exist at all. In general, the process of becoming a lich has very evil requirements possibly making it hard for good people to retain a good alignment."

So it seams that good and neutral liches are possible, if we examine D&D, but really rare. Okay this helps me to understand more devs idea, even to most people liches are only pure evil creatures. That is the way how I have seen those described in every other fantasy game, movie or literature. Still weird, but somehow acceptable.

@Logain Hold your horses. Sandbox games does not need global chats and those more like takes sand out of the box. If ingame local chats are implemented (why would not) those are surely enough.

    • RE: How I imagine starting on Tartaros would be...

@Jetah Yeah I guess you could do discord channel for that, but it is luckily not that bad when compared to ingame option of global chat. Local chats works really well and are imo the best option in sandbox game with local economies. What is the size of local chat is another thing. Continent? Or are continents even divided in regions? Maybe depends size of continents..

@Tuoni A tool to generate interest, not a burden. He just wants a community that doesn't need incentives to stick around. However, if the community enjoys the Foundation and wants it to stay, I'm sure he'll take it into consideration. 😉 No final decision has been made yet.

Okay, good to know. 🙂 Lets hope the best. 👍

@Tuoni Well it was more of... trying to give you, as well as future readers of this post, some sources of information I know, in case you have not seen them yet and are interested 🤔

      Okay, thank you for that.

@Eurav said in What is called human transform for Beastman?:

Well, a Lich is not really "neutral", as Jacopo says in this video, a Lich will keep the karma and alignment a character had before the transformation, so it can become anything... good, neutral or evil.

This information is not helping my pain. Good Lich? What is that? I guess it is better if you do not tell me more. 😅

Oh, the Foundation system is a burden.. 😧 And I actually believed that someone was thinking this also from community point of view.. Damn I was naive.
