      I actually think it’s detrimental to release too much upfront. Sure, it’s important to cater to your current followers. However, when you start making more community content... there’s inherently more outreach. There’s a time and place for that imho. And I don’t think the pre-alpha is it unfortunately. The game is going to take 2+ years to make (and that’s on the current plan). The Kickstarter was merely a year ago (not even).

      Too much upfront is not what I am asking. There is that middle road between too much and none. 😉 I understand that human resources might been one of the problems, but I see pre-alpha time also important, because during that time you keep the current community sticked with the product and same time you market your game for new players. More marketing, more players for alpha 1. Simple business.

      I can see Fractured Youtube channel one of the problems. They started upload videos about 10 months ago. There is total of 9 videos and 2-3 came out inside one month. Good start.. BUT, the last video is over 7 month old already. What happened there? Its hard to keep people follow the channel that inactive or speaking of getting any new ones.

      It's a few devs only and they are focusing on development right now, so the game can be ready for Alpha 1. 🙂

      That is not acceptable reason. When Alpha 1 is launch, what happens next? Then devs are too busy to maintain Alpha 1 and they need to start focus on Alpha 2. So with that logic devs can use that same reason everytime and they never have time for community and marketing.

      @Gothix said in Developer updates regarding game status?:

      So from this perspective, a lack of "public updates" is understandable at the moment.
      At the point when Alpha 1 will be out, things will drastically change for sure though. NDA being lifted, and all.

      It will help, but marketing and content updates should not rely only on players. Those have not the same value what official videos and news have. Content creators are usually making stuff from their point of view and there is also negative feedback and reviews among those videos/articles.

      So summarizing this.. We need more official content updates to follow, but DS needs this even more from marketing point of view.

    • RE: New Race Idea

      I am generally a little bit concerned how races and character creation are going to limit your character progression. This will easily come ahead in situation where you want to change your role for example. Now people are more pushed to create a new character. Now if professions will be taken along to this same mess, it will take even more out from freedom of character progression and base idea of sandbox. Thats the main reason why I dont personally want to see any more race differencies and bonuses what we already have. I dont want to see situation where we need everytime create a new alt if we want to focus on different activities.

    • RE: Why Albion is boring and Fractured will not be ?

      Hi @KingKwen and welcome.

      I am a former Albion player too and even there is some similarities there is a lot differencies as well between these two games. Albion was too much repeating same stuff and it felt endless grind for sure. I personally have high hopes with Fractured and it has potential to make most things better than Albion. Character progression is more horizontal focused and avoids repeating same activities over and over again. Moreover, because Fractured cares also of PvE minded players, they will for sure focus more on PvE related stuff than what Albion did. Okay, Albion is trying to fix that problem, but I dont know how well they have managed.

      Not really weird at all imho. They have updates every month, the most recent detailing what their plans for alpha 1 were.

      There is only one news/update related to pre-alpha and its from february. It may be enough for you, but its not enough for everyone. It is important from marketing point of view to release constant updates and videos. That will keep people more interested and follow the progression. New content releases also gives people more topics to discuss and not like atm where forums and discord are quite quiet. Lack of this information and marketing was surely one reason for result of kickstarter, which was a slight disapointment. I understand that DS has limited number of human resources at the moment, but imo they should still try to make them more known and also keep current community satisfied. I wish DS has more patience people like you though. 😉

      How successful has the pre-alpha test gone? Are the testers giving lots of good feedback? Are you guys happy with what you got?

      It seams the feedback conversation is spoken behind closed doors.. and yeah I kind of understand that. However, its weird that any footage, news or information is not shared with rest of the community from DS behalf.

      Just wondering if fractured will be for Mac because right now my windows computer is broken

      Like @Vortae said. However, there is something important to take attention.

      "The game is being developed for computers running Windows, macOS and Linux. While support for all these three operating systems is planned to be available on full release, it is possible that only Windows support will be available during alpha / beta. Clarifications on this issue will be released when the game approaches Alpha / Beta testing."

      @dawnofcrow I personally like when people justifies their suggestions like you. With that folklore part I was sold. 🙂 Fox would surely be intetesting option for Beastmen and something fresh too. I see fox as an agile, cunning, clever and with good senses, but not so strong. So I would tweak a little bit those max attributes to more like this direction:

      STR = -2
      DEX = +2
      INT = +1
      CON = -1
      PER = +3
      CHA = -1

      Dexterity or Intelligence could also be +3, but because there is already Beastmen with these primary attributes, I would personally choose Perception for best attribute.

      @Jetah With gathering that could actually work better rather than with crafting. I do not want to see races which can craft better items than others.

    • RE: Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?

      @Meiki said in Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?:

      @Tuoni They will most probably have their own. So in game terms Angels will be just a different race(s) of beastfolk and abominations just different types of demons.

      I think this would be the best solution and it would actually make them unique as well.

    • RE: Spell crafting

      @Logain I know all this, but we don't know what those task will eventually contain. We have maybe seen one example and I guess most are not even done yet. However, if all tasks will be line with that example then we might have nice system at use. Still we do not know how much time and effort these tasks will take and that will eventually determine how grindy (time consuming) this system will be.

    • RE: Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?

      Okay lets presume Angels gets permanent access to Arboreus and Abominations to Tartaros, and Angels are threated as Beastmen and Abominations as Demons. But what happens to special abilities now when they have changed sides?

      so why do combat progression get advantages whereas if you're interested in a profession you get nothing specific for it?

      It is true that demons get combat advantages and Beastmen some bonus skills as well. However, Beastmen loses bonuses when moving out Arboreus and Demons get heavily debuffed if going there. So those combat advantages does not work all the time. Crafting bonuses would most likely be permanent. On top of that humans kind of have profession advantage already, they have easier access to different resources and technology as well. I would keep advantages generally as less as possible so race choise would not lock you to specific paths. In otherhand I understand that some differencies are needed to make between races or orherwise races would be only cosmetic. At the end this is just my personal opinnion and others can have their own. 😉

    • RE: Talent Calculator

      @Allie Do not listen that nonsense. Your request would be greatly helpfull to every player and especially to all theorycrafters. Character creation tool/calculator suits perfectly to game like Fractured. I agree with people, that there is not much sense to introduce this too early and during beta makes most sense to me too. Albion Online introduced something similar during final beta test. It helped people a lot to test different builds and even make guides to the community. This would be absolutly fantastic add and I really hope DS will implement something like this later. 🙂

    • RE: Will there be fast traveling?

      @Meiki said in Will there be fast traveling?:

      @Tuoni With the exception of Eclipse, when demons have nearly no-effort access to Syndesia, it requires to find the gate and activate it. Unfortunately details are unknown to me, but it has been said to open a portal between planets, you need to have a group as it is a group-effort activity and that demons have easier time doing it due to Babilis' blessing.

      Yeah I remember reading about that. That is really cool feature imho. It gives demons a free/fast access, but in otherhand people can prepare for invasion. This will most cerainly cause interesting encounters.

      @Eurav said in New Race Idea:

      E.g. Nheedra can have +2 STR and +3 CON, which leads to a max 20 STR and 21 CON. STR and CON impact how much weight you can carry, so it increases the resources you can gather with one journey.

      Perhaps dexterity impacts your gathering speed and perception to find rare resources as well.. 🤔 Anyway, I would also forget idea of profession focused races and I would leave that part purely for character progression. So those players who want to focus on professions, they can use points to attributes and abilitites which give them best benefits. Maybe on top of that they can craft items and wear gear, which gives them bonuses for gathering for example. So I would leave that freedom of choise to players also after character creation. I am not a huge fan of current state of beastmen either, because those are partly locked to play certain roles. I can live that, because most likely my main will be human, but still it takes something off from the base idea of sandbox.. imo ofc.

      @Meiki said in Will there be fast traveling?:

      There also could be a requirement that, to create a path between cities, the city has to have a trading post or courier office or whatever of sorts, i.e. you can use this type of travel only between cities that are "connected".

      I love this idea. Leaving fast traveling partly to players would go nicely to sandbox theme. Maybe some contracts are needed between these towns and cities as well.

    • RE: Will there be fast traveling?

      @Meiki said in Will there be fast traveling?:

      What would be nice as for travelling between locations is to join an NPC trader/traveler/carriage, whatever of sorts, you pay them and they bring you from City A to City B at a faster pace and without the need of your input. So it will be faster and convient for you. At the same time the more you carry with you the more you have to pay them, both because of the weight and because of the potential robbers it could brough along the way because of your belongings.

      This would be quite normal system used in other games. You can travel free when naked, but travel cost gets higher with items and gear with you. Usually more valueable and heavier goods costs more. Its needed to not mess up local economies.

      Well fast traveling between planets perfect the way it is planned, at least for me.

      Was those portals between planets planned to need some effort to get open? Rituals or something?

    • RE: Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?

      Okay so if Angel can turn to neutral, then it makes sense, that he/she cant live permanently in Arboreus..

      ..BUT, if Angel is a permanent form it actually means that this person has left all evilness behind and found redemption. So, what if Angel can't change his/her alignment to anything other than lawful when visiting or living on Arboreus. That way Angel won't be a threat to other players and has earned permanent place in Arboreus. Could this work?
