      @Jetah Thats true and kind of norm, so people are surely okay with that. However, because DS advertises this less grind, maybe they have something special in their sleeves.

      What it comes to tasks.. Repeatable killing can be avoided e.g. combining killing with exploration. Meaning if you would need to kill 100 creatures to complete a task, it could be changed need to kill 10 different kind of creatures in different locations. Or why not those task could be quest chains with different kind activities related to that specific ability.

    • RE: Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?

      I understand the philosophy behind that only Beastmen can live permanently in Arboreus. It simply protects PvE minded players to encounter PvP activity as less as possible. The best way to do this is keep PvP minded players out and only as short time visitors. I guess this is also good solution from resource point of view.

      Now correct me if I am wrong, but these angel, lich, abomination forms are permanent? Are their alignments also permanent?

      Which is still a grind - you are grinding virtual step count or virtual visas count or poi count πŸ˜„ whatever you prefer to call it. But if all is laid out evenly and in fun way, why not. I do not mind a little grind as long as it is fun. 🚢

      Agreed. That is kind of the truth. Like mentioned before, it just depends how to define term grind, because to different people grind means different things. Thats why devs were careful and they actually defined what grind means to them.

      It does not actually matter much how people defines word grind. In every case there is one thing which binds point of views together; Time consumed. It does not matter how we grind, but how long we need to grind. That is what eventually matter most. Okay, in many cases just repeating same activity over and over again can fall you for boredom more quickly. Still tje result is same.

      I do not personally mind to do some grinding, but I hope that most of my playtime wont just go for mindless grind and need of progression. Albion was actually too much that. So I hope devs does not just play with word grind and we can progress with decent grind (time used).

      See, that's the difference in the definition of the term 'grinding' I was talking about. Yes, locations can become common knowledge (every successful game develops plenty of wiki/hint/guide pages), but exploration is usually not considered 'grind' by the majority of players.

      @bandingo Do not take them too serious. Bragging is something which is part of Albion community and there it is quite normal to pick other guilds for example.

      @MrFlako I have no intend come back to Albion, because design and content went totally wrong direction after beta tests imho. But I just want to remember you, that if you and your guild are something in Albion, that does not matter anything for Fractured community. You must earn your reputation here, in this game. I can imagine, that you are capable to do so, but its still too soon to brag about it. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Creative Biome Discussion

      @boogis Had a good point related to unique resources and different biomes. It will be important to place biomes on the map from economy point of view. Creating local micro economies is something what sandbox games really need. It will only encourage players to explore and create trade routes if different towns and areas lacks of different resources. That way some people can make their living as merchants buying and selling goods in diffrent locations.

      Albion Online has 5 biomes and 5 resource system. They have mountain, forest, swamp, Steppes and Highlands. Every biome has three different resources, one primary, one secondary and one lesser. Albion had a lot of problems to find balance between biomes and resources, which is one reason why we saw lots of different map designs in Beta. Unfortunately they did not manage to get good enough map for launch either and there is still too easy access to all resources, and local economy differences are quite small because of that. Only dropping 3 resources / biome to 2 would have a huge impact to local economies and would encourage people to travel more. So why I am telling this? I hope DS will take count this and does not make the same mistake and make too easy access to all resouces.

      I know different planets will have unique resources, but its also important make some local differencies inside planets and maybe even inside continents.

    • RE: New Race Idea

      @Eurav Well at the end its not about what you or I want, its about vision of devs. To me current number of races feels somehow odd and imbalanced. Like something is still missing. My suggestion to add more races to different planets was only thought from balance point of view and because I presumed Syndesia will be only for humans, I suggested add more human races. What kind of human races? Idk, I would need to know more about Syndesia's lore before answering that part.

      Those new races in Syndesia can ofc be other humanoids as well, like dwarfs or elfs e.g.. However, I would not personally add those just for sake of adding. New races needs to be also lorewise to make sense. But I know, that I would not put dwarfs or elfs to Arborous in any case.. those are just too close of humans.

      Knowledge points are of lesser importance, since they can be redistributed across discovered spells.

      @Eurav Start to think our world and history, and I am sure you will find different kind of human races and cultures, which could easily have different backround and racial bonuses. πŸ˜‰

      Elfs and dwarfs would also suit nicely to planet Syndesia, but its not something must implement imo. I like the concept of demons and beastmen. Its something fresh and less used. All those basic elfs, dwarfs, orcs and gnomes are getting a little bit boring already.

    • RE: New Race Idea

      I personally love to be a crafter as well, but I would like to keep professions separate from races and leave people the freedom with progression paths.

      However, there is currently four beastmen, three demons and one human race. Imo there should be at least one more demon race and three more humans. Then we have total of four in all category.

      More Ideas......

      Purchasable Spectacles for Jewel crafting.
      A Special Cart that can hold much more than 'Normal' capacity due to enchantments.
      A Sheep who's wool grows back quicker than others (For the shepherds in the game)
      A Sheep dog (Trained of course) who rallies all of your sheep together for quick and easy harvesting.
      Pickaxe's with extra durability, gloves of mining, portable anvils, so forth.

      Many ideas.. but hard to tell until launch.

      Cheers Folks.

      You have some good ideas here, but I would personally use these in character progression rather than tiding these to guilds.

      @Pluto said in Will zergs rule the open world?:

      @Tuoni

      True, but the same idea can be used for non siege weaponry. We have received hints that there will be traps we can deploy, what with shadow demons having an affinity for traps. There could be traps that are well-tuned for clearing out hordes of players, but be near worthless against a single player. I'm not exactly sure what that would look like... but it's an idea to keep bouncing around in the devs minds during future balancing.

      Interesting idea, but I can see straight away balance problems and ways to take advantage of another zerg group without much effort or actually fight them. Of course its hard to say at this point what devs exactly have in their minds.

      Zergs will be a problem at point where large guilds and alliances dominates all the lands without leaving any playing possibilities to smaller ones. This is ofc a challenge for devs and how they want this to be handled. I just cant see that some kind of traps would be the solution in practise.

    • RE: Spell crafting

      "on Fractured grinding (repeating the same action over and over) is not the way you earn Knowledge Points. On the opposite, their acquisition takes place naturally during the course of your gaming sessions – and the more varied are the things you do, the better!"

      This ^^ is how Fractured determines grind. And like we know, Fractured is marketing itself as no grind game. This can be a little bit misleading though, because grind can be think as time you need to use to progress next level. So Fractured goals to make that grind more enjoyable, but it is still there like @Jetah mentioned. Under here is plan how knowledge system and ability progression are planned to implement:

      "Abilities, however, are not only meant to be learnt once, since they feature up to 3 levels of power! Completing only 2 tasks of a Discovered ability allows you to study an ability to level 1. After that, you need to have at least 4 tasks completed to study it to level 2 and 6 tasks completed to study it to level 3."

      So as we can see, the progression is tide under different tasks. Now how grindy this system at the end will be depends on what these tasks exactly contains and how much time and effort players needs to see to accomplish those.

      when you've been here long enough, you see the same questions being constantly asked. it's better to point them to the search bar.

      It should not go that way. Even I have not been here for long, I have been part of other gaming communities for long time. In those these same topics were discusses much more what here is done. It was never a problem. Now if you do not personally want to discuss that same topic anymore, you could just leave it be and let others discuss who are interested. It is so simple. If there has been good and informative topic before, then you can post that link and not just say use the search bar.. On top of that, the search gives you lots of conversations and reading all those through is something not many people are interested to do. Also necroing old post is kind of argued matter and most cases (what i have seen) those are recommend to just leave be. Moreover, new members comes in forum everyday and they do not care if some people are discussed before of the same topics they are interested atm. It sounds more like those who were here first are privleged to discuss about the hot topics and after that those cases are closed.

      To summarize this; Atm you are not helping. You actually help more if you just do not answer, rather than you tell this topic has discussed before and go use search bar for old posts. 😐

      @KairosVal Biggest problem with roaming zergs are that those overruns everything that crosses them. That includes gatherers, explorers, dungeon&raid runners and solo/small scale PvP players. So basically all activity except other zergs. Your siege weapon suggestion was interesting and maybe we can see those in siege battles, but I dont see those help with zerg problem.

      @Pluto said in Skeletons:

      @Tuoni

      I have a few suggestions that may touch on those issues.

      Perhaps being a skeleton isn’t a permanent race that you play. In fact, maybe you can be a skeletal beast man, human, or demon. Perhaps becoming a skeleton is a direct relation to the game world.

      This sounds better already and makes more sense imo. Skeleton as temporary form is one good option and would effect to gameplay interesting way with debuffs and buffs suggested earlier in this thread. Will for sure spice up open world PvX.

      Maybe there could be some kind of underworld continent where you can only travel as dead? Maybe you need to be killed by a specific boss like you mentioned to get this access. Moreover, this can also be somehow related to knowledge system and you need to craft or buy a specific item to complete the transformation (just an example).

      So summarizing my opinnion.. Would I like to see skeleton as permanent race option? Not so much. Would I like to see as temporary transformation? Hell yes. πŸ˜‰
