    • RE: Dùath port town of Arboreus

@Gibbx I myself would enjoy doing that, even not being a hired bow or a mercinary. gathering materials to trade or craft things myself would be very useful 🙂

I also enjoy the challenge of killing difficult enemies and like to see my progress of it becoming easier over time due to me getting better at things like avoiding their skills or learning their resistances and damage types.

I loved playing a wizard in Perfect World International, because if you learnt the types of attacks your enemies used, you could swap your defences around to suit the situation and change your attack types to add more advantage. It is a good example of horizontal progression in a majorly vertical progression game too now that i think about it. lol

unfortunately tho, for years the devs of the game have been killing it, and now it is impossible for a new player to progress to being a badass without spending any money because of how hungry they are.

My guess is, it's gonna be similar to how crafting was back in SWG. Your crafting materials will have effectiveness percentage and crafted item's effectiveness would depend on material's quality, in addition to crafter's skill.

Yeah, I have made lots of guesses as well, but the reason I asked for an answer from the Developers was because I wasn't satisfied with my guess, or anyone else. So I await an answer from them.

Well, you could've specified you were only interested in devs answer.

      O.O I have...on three different responses/posts in this thread....

even then, the devs are pretty busy, you shouldnt only rely on responses from them. sure, they might be more insightfull/accurate/definate... but if they are too busy answering everyones random questions, they wont have time to develop the game. we are a community for a reason...

      Hey all!
I really enjoy sandbox'y mmorpgs that offer a lot of freedom with strong communities and meaningful pvp. I've been playing most of the bigger mmorpgs that came out in last 20 years but nothing really filled the boots of my first love - ultima online.
I haven't tried Fractured yet but from everything that I've seen I think it should scratch all my itches.

Any word when it will be purchasable on steam? Already wish-listed it there.

The devs are pretty keen to release the beta on steam this year.. but don't expect it till very late in the year. As for full release... that's still very much up in the air. 2023 expected, but only time will tell.

And also if there will be a difference between beast towns (which I imangine would be more spread out), then a human town for example.

Why do you think beast towns should be more spread out?

Maybe because beasts live in separate subcultures, while humans are all one race.

i would expect it coz beasts are typically considered tribal... like goblins, rather than communal, like humans.

I actually prefer that "funny armors" are never introduced to Fractured.

Perhaps only temporary ones, and tied to specific events. But never permament ones.

The moment i see characters running around with horse head masks and pink pijamas, i'll know end is just behind the corner.

(Just how i personaly feel about "funny costumes")

ummm... but Gothix... you can already wear animal heads in fractured... 😮

    • No Ranged Bonus on Bow Enchanting

The Longbow has a Melee Bonus Damage Enchant and a Magic Bonus Damage Enchant and no Ranged Damage Bonus Enchant, despite that being the only damage it deals.

@Yitra i would have to agree. beastmen being integrated with nature would make tonnes of sense... then the demons would probably live on a semi-desolate wasteland...

    • RE: How is everyone liking the game?

i loved playing the alpha. The only thing that pissed me off was going and grinding wolves for half an hour... then spend like 5-10 mins to cook all the meat... only to have ALL of it disappear from my inventory before i even needed to eat...

      @Yitra

i like that you can't buy the item though (at least not now). it's a foundation item, thus you have to be active to a point to get it.

the foundation could be reset in beta or release and new cosmetics released which could make the chest unique to those that were here longer.

i dont think they will re-release the foundation or something based on it. they seem pretty set on removing it completely.

    • Crafting interface

The new crafting interface out in the wilderness is crap. Pressing N to open it doesn't work half the time, so you cant even build a campfire or wagon to rest or gather resources, you can't make bone arrows on the fly, because inventory space is limited to travel with 15k of them before you leave, you can't make a hammer or an axe to build a wagon or cart if you do manage to open the interface or chop down a tree.

All the unneccissary limitations make travelling more of a hassel to set up and less interesting. Please, change it back to the old crafting interface, where i can make a new bow if my current one breaks half way through the whispering woods.

It doesnt even make sense having an discrepency between being inside a town or being in the wilderness... they are all items you craft WITH YOUR HANDS....

    • RE: Min/Max'ing and crafting/fighting

@Farlander what you say is completely inaccurate. stat wise, all of us are born equal. It is how our parents, then teachers specialise us and how willing we are to specialise in anything that makes us stronger. Body builders focus on strength, researchers focus on intelligence, builders balanace both of the two, fortune tellers max out charisma, etc. Our lives are a perfect horizontal progression. If effort isn't put in, our stats all go into laziness instead of strength, intelligence, charisma, etc. You will never get a farmer to sit still. They have a laziness stat of 0.

In terms of what people can do in game, the majority of the progression will be learning how to take on everything from different ways. Learning the ways of the land of Fractured. Even in games with vertical progression, people get bored and run out of things to do. there is still a cap, regardless. most games, spend $50,000 and u will have nothing to do within a week or two.

      @Gothix

part of MTX is advertising. part of that advertising is forcing others to see it.

Even then, having people able to choose to see cosmetics or not... those that dont want to see them in the first place wont be looking at buying any. it would be trying to tap into an uninterested market.

    • RE: Anti-Hack/Cheat/Bot

hopefully it doesn't become a case like Tree of Savior... it was buy to gain early access, and there were hundreds of bots within only 2 days... They implemented a system like a week later that would instantly ban accounts if a post was made that was gold selling or whatever, but it still wasn't 100% effective for quite a while.

    • RE: Bees?

unlike most MMO's, this one doesnt seem to be complete fantasy... looking more like a survival game like ARK. Cosmetics in games that look like this one would take away from the game for some players inatead of adding more to it. it would be immersion breaking for some players. especially if it isnt all based on a survival aspect and you can get pink neko costumes or flashy rainbow dresses

    • Bow info screen bug

After crafting a Longbow with Oak wood, I went and hovered over the pic to check its' stats, only to see this:

      1.jpg

After i took the screenshot and alt tabbed to past and save it, alt tabbing back to game fixed it. But it still shouldn't happen 🙂

EDIT: alt tabbing again broke it again, making me see the messed up details page. alt tabbing more consistently fixes and re-breaks it.

    • RE: Anti-Hack/Cheat/Bot

      @Gothix said in Anti-Hack/Cheat/Bot:

There would be one system to prevent botting, but it's so rigid that would severely lower real player population as well so gaming companies do not use it.

      System:

Require EVERYONE to create an account using credit card (real info read). Even if game is not subscription.

Whenever someone cheats / hacks / exploits / uses a BOT -- ban that person (through his credit card info). Now this person can no longer make a new account ever, not using other credit card, not in any way (unless he goes to police and changes his name, and people can't just do that every day, and 99% wouldn't anyway even if they could).

That way would prevent botting for sure, as once botter is banned, he can no longer come with a new account.

However this would also deter all the players who want to play anonymously from playing the game, and of course it's why gaming companies will never use that since they do not wish to cut their profits by reducing amount of players that will play their game. 🙂

Not putting any points others have mentioned towards this... This would cause issues for families that play together. Sure, the parents could make their own accounts, but what if it is a single mum with 2 children and all 3 want to be able to play?

And then, if it is possible for a parent to get their child a credit card... if the child gets banned for cheating... will it be temporary because they are an immature little kid... or will it be permanent, even after they grow up and mature, and potentially grow out of doing that sort of thing? (coz using a credit card, it would in effect be age verification as well)
