      @MeruemVBP said in summon class:

I think the best race will be wolves, right?

I don't really think you can call any race "the best race". It all boils down to what you want as a player. No point picking Chadra (+3 dex and +1 cha with i believe -2 int?) if you are only going to have 6-12 dex anyway. You still can if you want to be a cat though, with no issues, unless u want more than 16 int.

Classes with stat changes have max stat total = 18 + bonus. (so a Chadra can start with 21 dex, instead of 18). If the bonus is positive, it will cost fewer points to increase the stat. If the bonus is negative (like int in this case), it will cost you more points to increase the stat.

So again, "best" is all to do with what type of build you plan to use for the majority of the game. I believe humans don't have any stat bonuses, however, they have more points to spend on stats, to balance that 🙂

@GreatValdus alot of the escape skills were nerfed to light only though, including the stealth ones, which used to be medium only. This is why I believe the devs are going to remove medium eventually. Coz they completely nerfed the assassin type players out of it to light class.

    • RE: Map clarity

I personally never had any issues with the world map. But i did practically ignore the mini map. If you actually pay attention, you CAN see all the impassable zones... as the vast majority of them are cliffs, which ARE marked for you on the map. It is just a matter of having the brains to realise it isn't a footpath. as @gothix said earlier in this thread, this game is all about players gaining advantage purely through their own knowledge of the game... not on having better gear or even a better map or whatever.

If you are having trouble with monsters, put in time to make potions before you go and try to gather up 50 wolves or attack a spider nest... or simply, walk around the enemies instead of through them. If you are worried about dropping everything from PvP coz u can't look where u r going... then don't play on one of the PvP maps... simple.

    • RE: Map clarity

@Razvan no der. Knowledge of a player is the only edge that exists in a horizontal progression game. look at League of Legends for example (as much as there is mass vertical progression). If you have 2 players with the exact same champion and exact same gear... the one that is SMARTER and KNOWS THE CHAMPION better, or HAS MORE EXPERIENCE is going to win.... EVERY TIME!!! Horizontal progression has literally nothing to do with it. It is player knowledge, just like this game will be based upon. Player knowledge will be the whole basis of this game.

It would be easier if you quoted what I said to know the full context. I will assume you argue with the part I said that there are other advantages than player skill and bonusses to raw stats.
If so, comparing a mmo with a 5v5 arpg is just wrong. First of all, if you duo with your buddy, you might be ganked by 4-8 people. In the same light, if you have a 30 active people guild, you can't really zvz a 100 active people guild. So there, player count matters. Then it's of course the financial part of the game. If you're in a top guild, you will have access to expensive resources. You don't have to be particularly good to get recruited, but you have to be very active because the important thing in a zvz is to be there and listen to the shotcaller. How early you started playing might also be a factor here: if you start from day one, you might have some expensive collectibles or a chance of owning a house in a good place or a crafting station in a good town.

I didn't see any need to quote anything, coz it seemed like the majority of everything you had posted was about how a players knowledge of the game shouldn't give them an advantage over a player that knows nothing about the game. That it doesn't tie into a horizontal progression game, despite it being the only possible advantage in a horizontal progression game other than a player having gear vs not having gear, or having the brains to carry the right type of gear for the particular task, instead rando whatever gear specialised for something else... which would come down to... you guessed it... Player Knowledge!!

And in my little scenario of League of Legends, I specifically stated that it was a 1 v 1 with the same character and same gear, being evenly matched. That the game CAN be played as a 5 v 5 has nothing to do with it. I even pointed out that it isn't the best example of a game. The was the entire reason i broke it down to extremely specific parametres for the match.

If we end up on at the same time, it could be a possibility. I have set up to hopefully play in a large group run by @LilCassiopeia (who will eventually be the leader of a township if all things go to plan). Never know, you could end up joining us all if we get to meet up ^c^ I am sure there would be at least a few other groups of people that might be doing the same 🙂

@Znick said in Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!:

I don't see it this way... first, how are you dying so much? I got knocked out a few times, but I NEVER group and have never died.

If you do, grab some more gear that you made (you make and enchant 4-5 sets at a time and put it in your house/bank) and run back... forget your body unless there's some uber rare on it. Why bother, no gear is that good.

FInally... I picked exactly the enchants I wanted, there was nothing random.

      Am I wrong??

      Z

Or, @Hathos could simply learn how to make a campfire.... and prepare for trips being made. Like the devs intend people to do.

    • RE: The value of Information

@Mirgannel12 you made a comment about trade and 1 message is all it takes, what's the point? The point is... the game is so fcking HUGE... I doubt anyone wants to travel 5h searching for the POSSIBILITY of finding what they are after... and potential going back home empty handed, when it would have been faster to travel to whatever drops it and getting it themselves, even if in bulk. It would destroy the economy of the game if people didn't have a way to communicate to find reagents they are after (heavy materials are easy, with the trading post available ~ but not everyone will be looking for only heavy materials)

@obijawnbby Food=yes, as far as Alchemy, it hasn't been introduced as a skill as of yet, but if it is, it will probably require a crafting station and probably a tech tree upgrade

I think the only 'Alchemy' currently in the game is crafting minor poisons, which can be done at a campfire, making ash and then in the main crafting menu, making the ungeant and poison 🙂

    • RE: PvP Build? Is the game balanced?

@Kralith said in PvP Build? Is the game balanced?:

@Imyourfriend i am not an PVP player, so i can't say much at the builds, maybe others can help here.

But i can tell you about state of the game and the balancing.
This Game is far from being finished. It is actual in it's alpha phase and it is a real alpha, means not this, what you maybe know as EA (early access) from Steam, where the game should be almost ready for release.
That also means, the game isn't balanced at all, because there are not implemented all core features of the game.
The Devs already do a good job to balance things a bit, even it isn't a task for an alpha. Usually Balancing is a task for beta tests.
So don't expect any good balancing in PVP.
The actual state is just for testing this and giving useful ans constructive feedback to the Devs.

Hope you enjoying anyways the game in its actual state.

you forgot to mention about squishing bugs being part of the reason for the tests!!
We must squish ALL the bugs!!

    • My thoughts on karma and 'justice'

I am sorta split on this test in terms of PvP. So many people are butthurt for being ganked. Gankers are butthurt for being punished for being killed for ganking others. Alot of players don't seem to think ahead with where they are going, in terms of PvP threat, getting themselves killed, because they either are used to previous tests, where PvP was opt-in and a non-threat, or they don't want to deal with PvP in the first place?

By choosing the places I go to farm carefully, I have all but avoided all PvP and ganking, because, if you think about it and plan ahead, it's pretty easy to determine where PvP is going to be an issue. The map even calls them 'hotspots'. Seems self explanatory if you ask me...

BUT!! I also feel some of the changes I have heard about are rediculous. I feel like Karma resetting when you go to prison, makes 0 sense whatsoever. If a criminal irl goes to prison... they are kept tabs on for the rest of their life, in case it happens again.

I also feel that the whole Shrine thing is stupid. Having taverns as respawn points was amazing. You could do it anywhere. You didn't need to find a city that actually decided to spend a tech point on it (which i don't even know if any did, besides Duath). Choosing your Karma is stupid as well. It should be Dynamic like the game is supposed to be. I should be able to go from good to evil to good to evil based on my actions. Not by the click of a few buttons on a building.

I don't remember where I posted it... but I feel like city based tech is stupid. It should be player based instead, so each individual person can specialise. Players should be able to do quests or something to unlock personal research points, based on the rank of the city they are part of (whether it be resident or citizen). There is too much stuff being locked behind a wall, that I feel shouldn't be there in the first place.

I also feel that if a player has too low a karma when they are caught... they should NOT be able to be bailed out.
The cost of bail should also change based on how 'dangerous' they are. Lower karma = higher cost (until their karma gets too low and can't be bailed at all).

    • ⁹Rescent Nerf to mages.

I know there are multiple topics, but i scrolled through like 100 rescent posts and couldn't find any.

I feel the nerf was completely unneccissary though... and I have never played a mage. I have fought along side a few and even done some PvP with one.

I honestly think acid damage is alot more dangerous right now than ice or magic damage was. People were only complaining about magic missiles and ice spikes in particular, because almost every mage seemed to have it... My question is... if it was such a problem... why the hell did noone decide to protect themselves against them?

In my duel with a mage, they took down my hp real fast with a couple of skills, before finally using magic missile. I had warg armour on, so it did little damage to me. The mage supposedly didn't expect me to survive that final barrage and just stood there for a couple of seconds, I can only assume in shock. My gear wasn't even enchanted for extra magic defence. It was just the basic material bonuses.

If people stop treating this as a vertical progression game, and even 1/4 as a horizontal progression game (which is about all it is at this point, despite the devs saying it was going to be fully horizontal progression at the beginning)... then players actual knowledge and experience would reflect and they would hopefully adapt and evolve instead of complaining and brining in toxicity as they have lately.

1 set of equipment is NOT supposed to be used for everything.

      If unarmed naked mages were the main issue... why not make the spells only usable with the assistance of a staff instead? why not have a damage algorithm like;
      Damage = (1/10)Staff DmgInt stat?

Instead of ONLY being based off Int?

You can argue that isn't horizontal progression... But if it was truely horizontal, no1 would even get the chance to choose base stats. Their gear would reflect any and all stat changes.

    • RE: 3 Planets, 3 Different Games?

I was kinda hoping that the fee to travel would be hefty, but you could stay as long as you liked, reguardless of planet.

Arboreus, your Karma couldn't go down.
Syndesia, your karma could do anything.
Tartaros, your karma couldn't go up.

Back over a year ago, I was very much looking forward to travelling to Tartaros, as a beastfolk, engaging in as little PvP as possible to gather resources I couldn't possibly gather on Arboreus, to take back home, before I fell into the pit of losing karma, because of other players' actions. Risk and Reward. I will be very disappointed if the handholding begins and we can't travel to other planets, like the major selling points on the main page of the website seem to suggest.

I honestly don't see why races should specifically be planet bound. It's a pretty easy way to make the game less interesting.

    • RE: Alpha and resets

Yes, expect everything to be reset. Alot of things are still placeholders, and other things are subject to change later on. For example, now that towns are being implemented with the ability to make a tailor, some of the crafting stations that used to be able to be made to craft gear on your housing plot, are no longer available. If you still had your progress and your plot, etc. it would sort of break the game in that you would have stuff that you no longer should be able to have.

@Zori Unfortunately, it isn't possible to open them to the public. I live in Duath, rather close to the east spawn and wanted to make them accessable for all passers by, but couldn't. If you still need a town to live in tho, we are open to all 🙂

    • RE: Not enough slots

I reckon 8 slots is fine. I would like to be able to use the bandages, medicinal herbs and minor potions and so on from my inventory. Anyone that hardcore wants 8 slots, can the have them simply by opening their inventory and right clicking an item to heal or recover ailments. For those that are happy using slots for items, they can slot them for faster and easier access. Then you can have the best of both worlds for players wanting to maximise their slots and players like myself, that almost never use them otherwise. As an archer, i only have like 2-4 useful skills ever. I played for like a week before i even slotted 1 skill.

    • RE: Player towns should not be safe

@Helix said in Player towns should not be safe:

This is going to be controversial, but I don't think player towns should be safe or grant immunity from pvp. It should be entirely dependent on the governor and the guild owning the town to provide protection for it's citizens. Like wise towns should require fortifications (walls, watch towers, etc) to be built around the parameter to keep unwanted travelers out.

This might be something for when all of the city features are actually implemented. There is probably a long way to go before we get watchtowers and guards and crap. Like we literally only just got cities... We need to test that the cities can actually be built into cities without issues before we worry about the devs making siege equipment to attack them and NPC's to defend them. Would you have preferred that they held off Alpha 2 test 3 another 3-6 months?
