      Maybe for a little bit, but it is still a very solid ceiling. Once you hit 60, you can't get any more. Sure, they will reach the cap faster, but every player will reach it eventually regardless, even if they aren't trying to. There isn't a pay wall in place like in most games.

      and that'll happen every time they create a new character. it'll happen every time DS introduces new talents.

      in the worst p2w structure you always add new items so that those that don't pay can't ever catch up.

      giving people this advantage isn't horizontal at all. it's quite vertical for those that pay.

      How can you even be worried about this? At best, something new would be added even few months, and it would take only a day or two to achieve. The devs have also mentioned plenty of times that bonuses from anything will be extremely minimal. Also, not even very long ago in this very thread, one of the devs themselves stated that VIP probably wont give the knowledge gain bonus...

      The most appealing part of this game for me by far was that it wasn't out yet. Then on top of that, it is horizontal progression based. I love checking out early access titles to see the vision devs have, coz they are usually pretty original, and not check texture duplications of other games and asset duplication. Or a really cheap, crude knockoff of a currently popular title, trying to make some easy cash.

      It still baffles me as to how people can complain about their being no progression in stat boosts in this game (save for actually having armour and equipment vs having none), and potentially needing to carry 2 or 3 sets of armour when that is literally what a horizontal progression game is. I look forward to carrying maybe even 3 or 4 sets of armour as i go out to farm different types of monsters that all have different abilities and stats. Sure, I can't change my base stats i start with, but there are so many other things you can do to move points around to become a different class to make a battle 20x easier, despite having the same stat total. THAT is what I now look forward to the most.

      As everyone hgas already mentioned, camera is an issue, and the devs dont plan to include camera rotation. However, the vertical angle of the camera being dropped, isn't the answer. That will only provide more issues as your character becomes even further blocked behind trees and obstuctles, obstructing your view. I don't know what the devs r gonna do to improve movement, but i am very keen to see them do it.

      It would make sense. Based on the Lore, they gain alot of their powers from the Primal energy that only their planet, Arboreus has.

      @Gothix Not always true. If two players that are speed and damage based run in and happen to try and gank a tank that is aoe skill based, it is very likely the tank can win. Or a player that is prepared with stuns could still beat two people with propper timing by taking one on at a time, healing and so on. In PWI (Perfect World International - I wouldn't recommend it anymore), I saw a tank take on 20 people at once, and still be unkillable because they were prepared with a rediculous amount of buffs.

      @kellewic even still, using so many stat points that could be used on skills your race has a higher affinity for, for a mere 6-8% speed... just to try and outrun say an assassin type character, that can have 11% speed bonus anyways due to a positive affinity... you would be better of trying to take them head on, or use stuns on them to flee. Sure, if u r a mage, it wont be easy... but as a tank, you'd counter them. Need to prepare for any situation. Force them to swap their setup coz u swapped to their counter. The one that is most prepared will win if they have the skill.

      I think one thing you are all missing is that you don't really want to have less than 10 of any stats unless u r min maxing. So assuming no1 min maxes, everyone will have at least a move speed of 110% which, in effect 120% provides only a 9% move speed over others at the cost of sooo many stats at the very beginning. Most classes are capped at 18, instead of 20 points, which means they are only 7% faster than someone with 10 points in dex. Some classes are capped at 17 or 16 dex, lowing their speed over your reasonable minimum even more. If skills have a cast time, mages are gonna have to stop to attack u, giving you time to catch them. If an archer is shooting you from range, hide behind a boulder, so they have to come closer or run away in a zig-zag pattern so they waste all their ammo to almost never hit you. Use your environment.

      Have a look at this link for more info. Keep in mind, some stuff may have changed already, or be changed in the future.

      @grofire Ah, I see. I was never put in a PvP situation where i went down to 1hp in previous tests. Didn't realise that so long as u had endurance, it ignored your hp when it dropped that low. I honestly don't like that, coz if u get injured that much, taking more dmg should kill u... but i am also a pretty hardcore player usually and get pleasure from painful defeats and difficult challenges. I have been told that my love for brutal massochism in gameplay difficulty and realism isn't a commonplace thing amongst gamers.

      @Nekrage Having to change your entire kit to kill pys immune mobs is the entire basis of this game!! That, my friend, is how horizontal progression works... you equip the gear for the job, not just upgrade what you already have. No doubt there will be fire elementals or something that heal if they take fire damage, and die instantly if you deal water damage or something later on. Also, why should you gain knowledge in a party if you don't do damage? You won't learn anything if all you do is stand back and let everyone else do the fighting... People learn how to fight by Actually fighting...

      I personally don't see why shared perty knowledge SHOULD be a thing @Prometheus. What would be the point in having a knowledge system if you don't have to ever actually even damage an enemy to complete it? How can you say you learnt anything other than to rely on others to do everything for you?

      I had pretty much the exact same idea at first, living in the middle of nowhere. I had someone contact me to join them in the town and I pretty much declined (with respect ofc). We talked about it a couple of times as I thought about if I could still help them without being part of the town itself and we basically came to the conclusion of that I would be welcome to freely enter and leave the town as much as I liked, and in return I would gather materials and help anyone that may pass my plot in their travels with slaying some creatures that i would then loot for materials to trade.

      Unfortunately, the person that envisioned the town, which was called Duath, @LilCassiopeia has deleted the existance of Duath now, due to some issues he is trying to work out over these next couple of days. Basically, to live as a hermit, you will need to trade goods for services, or goods for money and then money for services (like manufacturing gear). You won't be able to play 100% solo if you want to be able to do everything... (excluding the fact that you wouldn't be trying out city life if that was the case) You will still need to make at least a few connections.

      Also, I believe not all of the content is for solo players. There are a few locations on the map with extremely high mob numbers that would very quickly overwhealm you if you are on your own. There may be a few places where you would want to go in the future, where you need to either hire some people to help you, or be allied with a guild that is willing to have you tag along 🙂 If you are very careful and well prepared, you could probably manage to get a bit of loot if you are solo though.

      Yeah. Your HP is total HP, which includes endurance. Endurance is basically a recoverable stagger threshhold (using potions, bandages and healing spells. When Your HP goes down tho, there is no way to recover it during a fight. You need to go to a campfire to rest up. I am pretty sure every time u take a hit, you take a % of damage as true damage as well, taken directly from your life. So no matter how good u r at maintaining your endurance with potions, spells and such, you will still have to go and rest eventually.

      @grofire coz increasing your endurance only increases the time it takes for you to stagger. Con increases the total amount of hp you have before you die. So if you have say 10k hp, and your base endurance is 1.5k, the game will say u have 8.5k hp and 1.5k endurance. Increasing your endurance to 2k will reduce your shown hp to 8k, as the 500 hp is moved over to endurance. Your endurance recovers by sapping your hp.

      Yes, expect everything to be reset. Alot of things are still placeholders, and other things are subject to change later on. For example, now that towns are being implemented with the ability to make a tailor, some of the crafting stations that used to be able to be made to craft gear on your housing plot, are no longer available. If you still had your progress and your plot, etc. it would sort of break the game in that you would have stuff that you no longer should be able to have.
